  2. What direction do you hope we go with the last 3 scholarship spots we have to give for next season? Here's a rough guess at what our depth chart would look like if we only had our current 10 scholarship players/signees: 1 - RS JR Ryan Woolridge RS FR Umoja Gibson 2 - SR Jorden Duffy 3 - JR Roosevelt Smart FR Larry Wise 4 - SR Michael Miller/RS FR Mark Tikhonenko/RS SO Jahmiah Simmons 5 - SO Zach Simmons SR Tope Arikawe Obvious spot is we need another JUCO or grad transfer wing who can challenge Duffy or at least give us scoring punch off the bench. Maybe one more player who could play in the post. I'm thinking maybe a 6'6"-6'8" player with some bulk who has range out to the three-point line and can play 5 in a pinch or stretch 4. I also wouldn't be surprised to see us save a spot on a D1 transfer who would have to sit out a year. We should be deep enough to have the luxury of using a spot on a guy who would have to redshirt.

  3. I agree. I was doing some research on possible transfers and came up with this guy. He is a foreign student and we may have some transcript issues with the NCAA to get him qualified. Besides being a rebounder and shot blocker, he plays with his back to the basket and aggressively calls for the ball. Here is a short highlight:

  4. I like this offer. One has to think if he commits he will keep his word...

  5. Correct me if I am wrong. Did we not pay Trump for his speech? Sure, it was a fundraiser and you hope to sell enough tickets to at least cover cost. Nevertheless, your comparison is certainly not apples to apples. Further, I seriously doubt UNT would have any issue with allowing Senator Ted Cruz speak on campus.

  6. I don't see a big glaring weakness that has to be addressed. So I think he will just get the best players he can that fit his system. NT has several guards that can play the point including Draper. To me, the 2 and 3 are basically the same position and NT has numbers. I agree that a taller player to match up with bigger teams is needed in the front court. However, I am not sure McCasland is concerned. NT may go for a graduate transfer as well as a D1 redshirt transfer.

  8. It looks like its happening. I first found out about it on your board and then yesterday at our spring game they were handing out season schedule posters with the date change. The previous poster they were handing out at the ticket office had the 17th. I am kind of bummed, wanted to come up for the game will have to make a decision closer to game day maybe game week. Oh well, should be a great game but short week prime time game pushes things in your favor a little bit more than a typical home game. Such is life. Odd no official announcement on either side.

  9. Yup, I totally agree. And you know what would help.....just a little bit towards getting that $25 out of their pockets? If when every time they opened up two certain newspapers and saw something about Mean Green Athletics that they were reminded how exciting the future is for North Texas...instead of being reminded how shitty our past has been or how lucky we are to have a moments bright spot. THAT's the point Fly is trying to sarcastically get accross...and he's right! Rick

  11. Good lord!!!! Guys, let's all just support the university and quit worrying about who got what, when, where. Donate because you want to, don't because you don't. But damn this silliness has to stop. We've got like 1,500 donors out of 300+ THOUSAND alum.... if 250,000 of our alum gave 25 bucks a year, that's 6.25 mil a year extra revenue... 25 freaking bucks

  12. Typical mess-talking by the neighborhood troll. Your school’s fan board must still be slow that you keep shotgunning posts all over our board.

  13. No, mostly you and 90 and a couple other crazy conspiracy theorists think that. Most of us think the big donors did everything they could to keep the program moving forward.

  14. I’ll be blunt—there are a lot of people who believe that for all the good you and your buddies did from funding, it kept a cancer here for 10 years longer than he should’ve been. That stadium only passed because of the student vote that UNTFlyer led...the one where RV had to be as far away as possible. He, nor you and your pals, got that thing passed. The students did. Anything else is revisionist history. And with that brand new stadium coming and then built, RV’s hires got us 28 wins in the next 6 seasons and 71 losses. He also torched our basketball program with a colossally stupid hire in Benford, who would’ve been hired away to his alma mater in Lubbock at a moments notice if he had accomplished anything here in a year or two. I believe in Wren Baker. And I believe he will get us a helluva lot more than 17 donors in 15 years to make this place something great. Done

  15. Back in the early 80s when Division 1 split into 1-A and 1-AA the top division required a 30,000 seat stadium. Maybe we could have stayed in Division 1-A if we had known how lax they would be in their enforcement. Today, there are 20 universities in the FBS that do not meet that requirement. There will be 21 next year when Liberty enters with a 25,000 seat stadium. Three who are now shy (Wyoming, Buffalo, Louisiana Tech) qualified originally, but subsequent remodeling caused their capacities to fall below 30K. Charlotte, FIU, Old Dominion and Western Kentucky are among the non-qualifiers who are in Conference USA. It doesn't add to the stature of the conference.

  21. Beto O’Rourke to make campaign stop at UNT today.....on campus! A Democratic nominee for the US Senate making a pointed and official “campaign speech” ON CAMPUS property. Oh, the outrage!!!!! Where are the professors starting petitions, calling for the event to be cancelled, calling it outrageous???? Where are all the Daily editorials opposing it???? Anyone else see a big reason why not? Ha! I have absolutely ZERO problem using UNT resources for this event....NONE. Just like I had ZERO problem with the son of the president making a non-campaign speech raising scholarship funds at an OFF-Campus facility. But, even though, different in scope and sponsorship and purpose, the “quietness” of folks on campus surrounding this obvious pointed political appearance is more than a little ironic. Oh...and really humorous as well. One wonders just how much in campaign dollars O’Rourke will raise for himself and his personal campaign related to this event vs how many scholarship dollars were raised by the off-campus event? Oh the outrage...UNT will never recover because someone made a speech!!!!! What has happened to our beloved University! Oh, the outrage and humiliation. We shouldn’t ever have considered playing a football game at Beto U either.....oh, wrong outrage. Just having some fun this morning....you folks carry on! 😂😂😂

  23. More aggressive 6-8 to 6-10 post player, 6-6 to 6-7 wing who is a solid defender, and a 6-3 to 6-5 guard who can knock down the three. That’s at least the basic of what of what I would to see.

  25. You know how people always complain about the NCAA and how it goes about it's business? Last year we moved from Virginia back to Texas. My daughter is freshman in HIGH SCHOOL and already has had two issues with the NCAA because of the move. Yes, the NCAA is so badly run it affects a FRESHMAN IN HIGH SCHOOL. Ugh.

  33. I really tire of this lingering battle over who supports the university in the "right" way. Let each of us do our own thing, be appreciative of each other for being here, have fun, and carry on. Things are going pretty good. Let's enjoy the ride a little bit for once. As for the original post, I had no intention of mocking it in my response. Was just being silly -- mostly because I don't golf at all and when I do, I'm about the worst golfer who ever lived.

  37. Ha! Ha! You must have missed the part where I said I had no problem with him speaking on campus...unlike the real “snowflakes” who ran to their campus safe places while Trump spoke off-campus. You, Sir, might just need a remedial reading comprehension class. I hear the local Juco offers one.

  39. I'd add in UAB here, too. I think their recruiting has been absolutely great and their head coach is a winner. They will be really tough to beat, since we play them in Birmingham this season.

  41. If they beat OU and UCF they will be on a conquest to beat every CUSA team by as much as possible... 13-0 without a loss in 20+ games isn't out of the question for Kiffin Atlantic. They want a Natty, either real or UCF grade...

  44. I thought the original topic was a post about how great of a last 12 months it's been around here lately? So, um, how did this turn into a bitch & moan fest? "RV sux!" -- "no he didn't" / look at the report -- we really did suck!" thread. Man, I really think people like to complain more than celebrate. Sorry for the lean times. :) Next up on the topic wheel: let's discuss Vic Trilli's tenure. We'll be right back after this message from Debbie Downer.

  45. Based on the global warming propaganda show I saw on "Nova" a couple of nights ago, a big part of this stadium renovation should have included raising the campus elevation. They showed an ODU campus sign and lots of shots from Norfolk to illustrate rising sea levels and the coming disaster.
