  1. Not surprising. Hopefully the staff is helping him catch on somewhere. Seemed like a good enough dude, but just couldn't crack the lineup. Probably best for both parties. Best of luck to him. Glad he was able to see the floor during the CBI run.

  2. My thoughts. The roster was better in year two than in year one. The roster is better in year three than in year two. Will they go 12-0? I don't think so but they will win between 8 or more games. have back to back winning seasons and a third straight bowl. And that hasn't been a regular theme around here the past 100 years. Rome wasnt built in a day continue to improve the roster and facilities year in and year out and grow the fan base.

  5. At the moment, Verbal Commits shows that we still have 3 active prospects with offers that have not committed elsewhere. One of the prospects, Marvin Cannon, was just offered yesterday. Tremell Murphy (JUCO) 2 years remaining Marvin Cannon (JUCO) 3 years remaining Tyrus Johnson (HS) With Fuller's departure we now have at least 2 spots to fill. I hope McCasland is confident he can close the deal with 2 of the 3 or has some additional guys that we don't know about yet.

  7. We were all expecting big things from AJ this year. Unfortunately with his wrist, those expectations weren't met. Hope he gets to transfer to a good school, and not one we'll be playing any time soon.

  8. At least with regards to his comments to the DRC, Lawson definitely appears to be going out with class. That is refreshing to see in this day. Best of luck to him in the future.

  9. It’s very true—part of the problem for so long was that the university left us in the desert for decades. Along came RV and he told us he knew how to get us to an oasis, but it was really just wandering along the desert for the better part of his fifteen years. Littrell has been great so far, as has McCasland. And Wren Baker has done lots of great things here. But they make mistakes and errors in judgment, too. It’s a good thing that people care enough to bring those errors to the attention of the fan base. Otherwise, you get the media coverage we currently have, which basically acts like winning here is impossible and we should be thankful for the Dickey years and McCarney years, since we saw Bowl victories in their tenures. By and large, those tenures were bad, just not Todd Dodge awful.

  12. i identify my as an eagle so does that make me an eagle or just a mean green fan? America is on a strange path, C Manning is running for congress and is hero in some circles. Manning can never hold a security clearance again. She sold the USA out and she is running for congress. I dont care if he thinks he is a women and he can wear what ever he wants. I am upset that while in prison the tax payers paid for his sex change operation. Elective surgery my insurance does not cover. Sorry off the topic.

  16. What bad comparisons? Out of 14 CUSA universities we have the most Alumni at 380,000[Charlotte 2nd at 130,000], the fewest athletic donors with 1,000, [UTSA has 2,000] and the least amount of annual fund contributions ,$1.2 million[ODU gets $4.5 million,UTSA $2.6million, ]. You can compare our donors and dollars with every team in the conference and we are still Dead Ass Last. Its time to quit making excuses for our inability to compete financially with our peers and hold administration accountable .Just an old man's opinion .

  19. Pretty much all group of 5s do. UNT's deficit is larger because the fan base (think tickets sold) is still low. Growing but low. Yet, we are paying our coaches at a higher rate than most of those schools. Salaries are your highest expense. So when your top is expense is high and your top revenue is low, that's going to be a hole to dig out of. Wren

  21. We let teams like ODU, UAB, Army hang around. Front 7 is our main area of need in the worst way. We take all the one score games we won last year and flip them to losses? UTSA, ODU, UAB, Army, LaTech That puts us at 4-8 instead of 9-3(without our postseason games included)

  22. Question: How is this off topic when you started the topic? Hmmm?
    1 point
  23. The very conversation topic should be an area of concern. A rather big one. 0-3 in Postseason play. 0-1 to solidify the opportunity for post season play. 0-1 in determining home field host in post season play. 0-2 vs SMU. 1-1 vs UTSA. So, maybe not a big game coach? Though I would say that both regular season games vs Amy were big as well. So, 3-8 in "big" games. Negligence of the defense. Or for a better reference, see #1. If some guys don't pan out and/or if some key cogs don't improve/get healthy, this might be the making of a historically bad defense in 2018....Todd Dodge type stuff (OK, not that bad, but bad)....We were 116th in ppg last year. So, most would think that there is nowhere to go but up. But nothing really suggests improvement. Ah, yes...To make it constructive... This staff has done well, but these are some areas I would like to see improvements moving forward.

  25. Dale pays attention to anyone who is winning and draws eyeballs. UNT just hasn’t given him any reason to cover them much, but SMU has been the same with him, too. When they were cheating and winning, he brought them down. That’s his MO. He covers teams that garner lots of interest, while ignoring those who don’t. His ratings suggest he’s doing things right.

  26. Is UNT90 back? 😂😂😂. Just pulling your leg a little. Just completed our best fundraising year ever in athletics. Yes, to your point, still not nearly enough donors, but the sales/marketing folks are, indeed, making headway and against a very strong head wind as well. Do we need more donors? Yep..you are 100% correct, Sir! Do we need donors to give more? Roger that as well. But, it does, in fact, appear that progress is being made on the field and in donor relations.

  27. I'm not that worried about the overall athletic budget shortfall for two reasons. First, comparing large budgets can be like comparing apples to oranges. Each school will do things a little different (such as the stadium cost coming out of the athletic budget). It reminds me of people trying to compare the costs of new stadiums. One stadium might be $30 million more but because it also includes land and infrastructure costs the amount actually spent on the stadium is less. Secondly, I trust this administration to handle the budget properly. The way Smatresk handled the accounting fiasco that greeting his hiring tells me he would not be down for any kind of shady accounting practices or unsustainable budgets. Also, Baker has hired a very experienced staff to handle the athletic finances. Under RV that person did not even have an accounting degree.

  28. I think the best case scenario is getting a guy blossom like Marcus Davenport at UTSA -- taking a flyer on a talent and watching him bloom -- and the more likely case is gettin a handful of Flusches -- which is not a bad idea. Andy and his like were good, dependable, and made plays. We just needed more. It would be like that 2013 DLine -- Orr, Boutwell et al -- that are not NFLers but clearly made a huge impact in that league at that level. We need 4-and-5 year senior DL that can come in and do a job. Then we wouldn't be overreliant on a Bryce English.

  30. Great point on facility. We bonded out almost the entire Apogee costs. It's now included in the expenses of the football program. That really skews it as well. No other G5 in Texas has that expense included.

  35. I understand why some get impatient about how fast the program is moving toward where we all want it to be. I really don’t want to be talking about the same problems at age 65 that we are talking about now, for some on this page, that is reality. But things didn’t get this way overnight and they won’t get fixed overnight either. GMG

  36. There are some great points being made here. A couple thoughts... One, is that there is some hard truth to what @wardly is saying. What we have been putting on the field in recent history has been bad. In fact... the long history of UNT football has been bad for the most part. Why would you be interested in that? It has been a part of the culture for years. Most students on campus think "we suck at sports." Have they looked to see how we are doing? No. Have they ever tried going to a game? No. Are things turning around? Yes. I think we are headed in the right direction. We are not selling the same dog food. The dog food tastes different... better. This current administration in the has a lot to undo while trying to promote something better. That is a big hill to climb. That hill is worth climbing though. If we keep on the track we are on, we will have students who have spent their years at UNT with a winning program. Then you will be surprised at all the alumni coming out of the woodwork. Remember when Baylor went on their run a few years ago? No alumni would claim their allegiance to that team... a few winning seasons and it was sic em bears all over the place. We can get there, and I think the juice is worth the squeeze. GMG!

  40. All of the above plus Idaho for our first bowl game. In 1aa bowl games were a pipe dream now we were heading to one, in New Orleans! Also loved the Nevada game, getting the monkey off our back in a soaker. Beating Texas a&m in the sp then driving home to Santa Fe that night to work the next day. That 15 minute power nap at the Texas border was gold! gmg
