  1. My thought is that this just postpones by four or five years the time when these students will have to learn to assimilate into what passes today for "normal society". I think it is more of a disservice than an accommodation for these folks. Time will tell. JMHO.

  3. As a 'newbie'.. 1. The "Stand". I still get chill bumps when I watch it. 2. The WHOLE 2013 Season. The Georgia game was freaking awesome as was ALL the road wins! Ball State was nuts. Ryan has told me stories of the Ball St. O-line puking their guts up right on the line. The reactions and comments made by he and his team mates are priceless! 3. Lance against Mid Tenn. All that has to be said. 3a. Any time Brelan touched the ball. 4. Kansas St. 2010 game in Fouts with Chico coaching. That was a hell of a show. 5. Kansas St game in 2012. Gave them everything they wanted and more. 6. My proudest.... the Alabama game in 2011. The boy went toe to toe with probably the best O-line in the country the whole night. 7. Last but not least. Becoming a member of the Mean Green family!

  5. Good article. I want to see Woolridge and Simmons work on free throw shooting during the off season. Could make a big difference in our win-loss record for next season.

  15. I know you are but what am I. If you were truly sorry you wouldn't have written such a long post defending your shady recruiting practices of the past...but the fact of the matter a conference is best when you have a bunch school with similar academic standards, which Troy does not have. Not saying FAU is some juggernaut in academia, but a school with no standards such as Troy has a competitive advantage. I like our current conference partners and any future additions that include Troy is a BIG no for me. Just my humble opinion which is not helped by your bending of the rules to the point of why have them with your gray shirting of the past.

  20. I believe I called Tyreke starting. Preston was exposed a lot last year. Glad to see him step up. That nickel spot is so important in this defense. Love the two deep at the WR position. We are absolutely stacked. Also glad to see King doing well. He looked great in the spring game

  21. With the amount of players changing schools in hoops you never know. One for sure, but if we see more than one then we will know something is up. The signing period opens in a week, but doesn't end until sometime in May so there will be plenty of time for things to shake out.

  27. To answer Fly's question... They do know about it, my understanding is that it was donated to the school but it ended up costing a good amount for repairs etc. so they were looking into options to sell or retire it with out offending the donor's family. That family has given generously to the university and endowed a chair etc.

  30. Would really like to get CSU on our schedule maybe a 1-1. How much better is the MWC to C-USA? Based on these facilities it looks a whole lot better. It is tough being a tweener.

  33. Definitely @DeepGreen. Especially when they are working for athletics. Seems that in the past, we've had our fair share of administration working collectively and cohesively against athletics.

  35. I have said for many years that we all should be prepared for the Rick Villareal Athletic Center to become a thing...it will fit just perfectly with the Darrell Dickey Practice Fields. Perhaps we can get the Tina Slinker Court very soon...I mean, she coached here for 19 years and only finished 46 games under .500... We really need to continue to embrace #newdenton...

  36. The audit of the current state of the Athletic Department when he was let go. Not a summary of his entire tenure. Just about everyone, including folks from the fabled "17", agreed it was time for him to go. That cannot be argued. However, IMO, I hope the Athletics Center is named after him because everything that came up over there was because of him. It's not perfect, but it's the reason why we're not still stuck in the SBC.

  37. Why not a DVD/BluRay dedicated to the CBI run? I wonder if it would be cost-worthy. I'm not even sure if UNT owns the rights to the video. I'm thinking of something similar to the NO Bowl DVDs they made in the early 2000s.

  40. Well, this is about the most film I could find on him. My thoughts: Anytime a player under 6' tall is ranked this high and has this many offers, it usually means a few specifications are all or mostly all met. 1. Shoots the ball well 2. Has good point guard skills 3. Is a good on-ball defender with quick hands 4. Is quick/hard to stay in front of. • Shoots the ball well - He absolutely has the form to be a plus shooter at the D1 level. Very good looking shot. Averaged 13.5 points/game as a freshman according to Maxpreps and appears to have since taken more of a pass-first PG role. • Point guard skills - Such a short video and harder to gather this than it is to analyze shooting form in a small sample. However, according to Maxpreps he averaged 5.5 assists per game this season. He also shows the ability and quickness to create his own shot and create shots for others. Seems pretty solid here. • On-ball defense - Again, short clip to analyze something that needs a bigger sample size, but according to Maxpreps as well he has averaged over 2 steals a game in his freshman through junior seasons. At his height you would prefer not to rely on him being able to guard more than one position, but he does appear to have the makings of a good defensive point guard. • Quickness - I think he checks this box as well. Not just quick, but explosive. He dunks the ball with ease, which for a guy under 6' gives you a pretty good idea on how dynamic an athlete he is. He kind of reminds me of a Dennis Smith Jr lite, plus about 4 inches shorter. Definitely has the skill set to take guys off the dribble. This is obviously a very impressive get for Mccasland. It kind of reminds me of the shift from Mccarney's offensive recruiting to Littrell's. Under Mccarney we saw him go after prototypical-sized linemen, receivers, and QBs but they often had little to no other offers, because they weren't actually good players. Under Littrell he has opted for the recruits who don't have prototypical size but are good football players. And we obviously see how that has worked. Mccasland looks to be doing something similar. Benford often recruited players of prototypical size who were either not very skilled, never made it in, or could not stay out of trouble. Mccasland is opting for the route of getting as much skill and the best players on the court as possible, even if he has to sacrifice size. I think that's a great idea at the CUSA level and I'm excited to see what else he and the staff have in store for the 2019 recruiting class.
