I caught up with the hard hitting 2019 Mean Green football prospect Bryce Robinson, fresh off his participation in UNT's annual 2018 Junior Day. Robinson, listed at 6-2, 230, received a scholarship offer at the camp, and is listed as the 40th best inside linebacker in the state per 247 Sports. He hails from Sachse, Texas (Sachse HS) and was a 1st team 10-6A all-district selection last season as a junior. Robinson contributed an impressive 115 tackles last season in a very competitive district. Prior to the UNT offer, he held 2 offers from ULM and McNeese State. UNT defensive coordinator Troy Reffett is his primary recruiter. Robinson had a great meeting with Coach Reffett and Coach Littrell in Littrell's office after the camp at which time they extended him a full scholarship offer. He described his meeting with the coaches as a “big one”, adding “I could definitely see myself playing at North Texas for 4 years". Bryce Robinson Quick Hits Q: What stood out most about the trip to New Denton? A: The Facilities and the energy of the coaching staff during practice. You could tell the staff really cared. Q: What other schools are you hearing from? A: ULM, UTSA, Baylor and Colorado. Q: Any other visits planned? A: I have a visit to ULM (Monroe) next weekend. 247 link: https://247sports.com/Player/Bryce-Robinson-46052767 Hudl link: https://www.hudl.com/profile/5530142/Bryce-Robinson7 points

What a coincidence Bryce! We also could definitely see you playing at North Texas for 4 years! Sounds like a match. Pull the trigger sir.4 points

The story was on the front page of their Sunday print edition and made the point that only Texas and Texas A and M did not rely on student fees and university funds to finance athletics. It quoted several students who did not seem thrilled that athletics is part of their college expenses. It was pretty slanted and pretty negative towards North Texas and other schools but I really don't think anyone pays any attention to the Star-Telegram these days. It is still available on their web site if you want to read it but it really is a waste of your time in my opinion.3 points

Does he have a brother? I'd like a double portion of this young man.3 points

And he's one of those jucos who comes in and has three years of eligibility. So we have him for two more years.3 points

Did the author really reference "In-N-Out-Burger" when stating why Denton/UNT is a good draw? And then later claims In-N-Out is no Shake Shack! MF'er lost me right there.3 points

www.star-telegram.com/sports/college/article202356619.html I didn't see this link posted on here, maybe its somewhere else on the boards. But articles like this really make me mad. The students voted for the fee.2 points

17.5 Years looks to be your breakeven at the new pricing...and who is to say that the annual will remain at $40/year over that 17.5 years? I would wager that you will live at least 20+ more years. Still a win if you think you will live at least 18 more years. Now, this just from a cost basis of course. :-)2 points

I agree with beer on tap, more TV's and the sports bar layout. While I enjoy the Twin Peaks type "experience," I don't think that is what we need at the alumni pavilion. Let's make sure everyone feels welcome and comfortable. Love the idea that this will be expanding.2 points

I'm OK with a stall if someone could just let me know in advance before: 1) driving 35 miles, 2) spending $8 to get in, 3) $5 to park and 4) purchasing a $5 (discounted t-shirt) that is too small. Though I always pull for the locals at the state tournament, I'm kinda wishing Allen gets their ass kicked for that crap.2 points

The Denton Chapter used it for events a couple of times...like our Oktoberfest Beer Tasting thing, and there have been some efforts to utilize it at other times. Plus it is used each year to watch the homecoming bonfire lighting (but that is pretty close to a football game). With the expansion, I am thinking there will be significantly more opportunities. The issue in the past has been manpower to open it, run it and clean up after events. Not sure where the "manpower" thing stands at this time.2 points

in the spirit of the moment, wife and I have booked a hotel room in frisco, about 25 miles from the house. I went on rant about "if we expect the kids to stay for 4 days, then we should do the same, it's called Karma, and it can be a bitch". Plus I figure hotel a couple of nights< expense for dui defense, Yeah, I know uber goes to where I live, but we need a sta cay.2 points

SAVE THE DATE...this year's version of the UNT CHEER SCHOLARSHIP BASKETBALL GAME WILL BE PLAYED ON APRIL 14th of 2018. The even better news is, that after several years of trying, we have secured the Ken Bahnsen Gym...yes...the OLD MEN's GYM on W. Highland Street (just across W. Highland from the Super Pit... as our venue! Yes, Sir! A real basketball gym for the first time in what will be our 8th year! So, let's do this one up right....let's make it a special day and help these great student-athletes with some scholarship funds. Put the date on your calendars NOW so you can play...get your friends to come out and play or just come out and enjoy the fun, bid on a silent auction item or two, etc., etc. Besides players (and yes, this remains a co-ed event...so ladies????), the biggest need we have is actually getting folks to come watch and be part of the event. The more "fans" we have, the better we do with concessions and with the silent auction and with the 50/50 half-time shot hoop-la. Also...looking for sponsors for this year's event as well. If you know a business or an individual looking to help fund student-athlete scholarships, please let me know. I would be happy to chat with them. So, that's it for the early news. Save that date...APRIL 14th...and let's make this new venue rock!1 point

North Texas football is coming off one of its most successful seasons in recent years, due in large part to its historically great offense. The motor of that was the View Full Article1 point

It was really disappointed with this "reporting." Nothing about the difference between public and private (nothing about TCU). Nothing about the student costs to attend UT & A&M or the costs to attend games at those schools. Nothing about state funding for UT & TCU.1 point

Bradley was an easy pick. Glad to see Holmes on all freshman team. Best high school recruit by Mitchell thus far. With whole team back next year plus three redshirts and two promising freshmen, it will be time for Mitchell's team to be a contender in the conference.1 point

Thanks to both of you, but my question is about the seats that are not the GA "football" seating but the seating on the court sidelines. can these be bought as singles? EDIT: AND IM AN IDIOT BECAUSE THEY HAVE NOW ADDED THIS ON THE LINK1 point

I think an area were we may see noteworthy improvement is in our turnover margin (#121 in the nation in 2017). Another year of seasoning for Fine and ball carriers who may protect the ball better than Wilson did. I also expect that the coaching staff continuity this off-season compared to 2017 could really help our defense play faster - hopefully resulting in more takeaways.1 point
