  2. http://www.meangreensports.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/ntex-m-footbl-mtt.html Lots of new names, and a lot of weight changes. Interesting new names/Developments: Nicholas Pichon DL 6'3" 297 Dion Novil DL 6'4" 266(was 240 last year) Tuulau Saafi 6'3" 280(was 272 when he came in) OUR ENTIRE LB CORPS basically put on 10+ pounds. Also worth noting Jamie King was moved from TE to LB Sosaia Mose 6'2" 305(Listed at 276 last year) Dakoda Newman 6'3" 288(Listed at 323 as a true freshman) Those are just a few that I noticed. The Strength and Conditioning/Nutrition staff put in work during the offseason.

  11. Given how UNT got raided the last season, I almost can't believe that SL managed to hang on to all his coaches this season. That in itself is encouraging and likely to provide a stability that will improve the team.

  18. AFTER C.J. BURKS seized two victories last weekend and was named Conference USA Player of the week on Monday, I am having a difficult time picturing the Player of the Year not wearing a Marshall jersey. Jon Elmore, leading the league in scoring and assists for the second year in a row, is the obvious choice after 14 of 18 games. Or is he? In some ways, this discussion feels weird. I am writing about not one but two Player of the Year candidates from what will likely be a fourth-place team. But at the very least, Elmore and Burks belong on the all-conference first team. To illustrate how big that would be for the Thundering Herd, a reminder of how C-USA does it: five on the first team, five on the second, five on the third and no stinkin’ honorable mention. One may be added to a unit, but that’s about it. So I’m talking about the Herd having two of the top five players. And if the nation’s leading shot-blocker, Ajdin Penava, is left out of the top 15, that’s criminal. There is a smidgeon of precedent on Marshall’s side. read more: https://www.wvgazettemail.com/sports/mar...2d68d.html

  19. We shouldn’t be trying to get to Status Quo.. if we are going to upgrade, I want UNT to be the new standard or if anything be in a class/level above who are competing against (LAT, SMU, UTSA, etc) and schools we would like to compete with (UH, TT, etc).

  32. Nope. I went to North Texas and I don't ever remember participating in a vote. That turnout has nothing to do with athletics and all about people taking the time to vote.

  33. I don't know . . . it seems to me true apathy would lead to a "no" vote. People wouldn't want to pay an extra $125-150 per year for something in which they had no interest whatsoever. This tells me that while our students may not generally be passionate about UNT sports, they do want them to succeed.

  39. I am currently a junior so here is my honest perspective: Freshman Year: I was really excited to watch basketball after football had been really disappointing. My first game I went to we got blown out by 30ish points and became really discouraged. I went to about 35-40% of the games that season and was consistently disappointed. Sophomore Year: BAD! I went to maybe 50% of the games, even though it was absolutely terrible. I was just so upset that we would lose every game that I was like what’s the point. Junior Year (This Year): We hired McCasland so I was really optimistic. We lost some games that we really shouldn’t have but I was still excited. I’ve been to about 65% of the home games this season, usually sitting in different places. Realisitcally, we need to be a good team in order to get more students to show up. I’m on the board, so I obviously care about UNT sports and even I can only bring myself to about 65-75% of the games. BTW: I haven’t missed a single home football game in 3 seasons, so I really do care.
