  2. I know Benford did not set the bar high but I think Grant might lead to this team to its best record in the last five years. Benford best conference win record was eight wins. I think this teams beats that number this year and the team will beat Benford's best season wins over the last five years. Grant took over a team that did not make the conference tournament last year. He had very few hold overs from last years team. What gets me really excited it is how young we are. We do need to get someone who can relieve Ryan on the court once in a while. We put a lot of pressure on him and depend on him at the end of the games. The guy never comes off the court. He does get a little sloppy at the end of the games sometimes but I think it has more to do with fatigue then talent. He is a great player to have on the team he just needs a little help to let him rest once in a while. I dont think he has missed a minute on the court this year. FIU leads the league in steals but we made a lot of lazy passes last night. I am excited for the team, the coach and the fans. Nice to hear the crowd get into the games again. This team never quits. Thank you to Wren for getting us a real basketball coach!

  7. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2754651-the-best-qb-in-every-college-football-conference-for-2018 Conference USA: Mason Fine, North Texas Why He'll Star in 2018 Fine will be a junior, as will his top three receivers. Rico Bussey Jr., Jalen Guyton and Michael Lawrence combined for 158 receptions, 2,271 yards and 20 touchdowns in 2017. All Fine has to do is not force things and he'll continue to shine. His 15 interceptions were among the most in the country last season.

  8. They called it on Lockett after the Beard offensive foul, then undid it. Weird. Shoutout to DJ! Huge game-winning three, when he hasn't been on a great shooting run since the Rice game. Still had the confidence to hit the game winner

  10. As I have sat in traffic on 288 and other places in Denton I wondered how it became to be like this. I was fortunate enough to learn how it was done. I recently attended a planning approval meeting held by the Denton County approval board. The discussion was a new subdivision on Ryan Road. The developer and land owner both from outside of Denton. To them it will be take the money and run type so they dont care what happens in Denton after they are long gone. Little history for the area. Ryan Road is a two lane road that leads to elementary school on both ends and hits Teasley on one side and Country Club road on the other. The City of Denton has already approved three new large subdivisions that lead into Ryan Road. At times during rush hour and school getting in or out the traffic gets bad. The traffic can almost backup to the CVS on Teasley and back towards Guyer high school. It is a mess in the area and Ryan Road is supose to be built into a four lane road in the future. In the mean time we are adding more cars to a already bad area. Anyway back to the meeting. A spokes person for the city or county was present at the meeting. One person on the board seem to get it, Mr Sullivan. Anyway the leader of the advisory board asked the City/County person from Denton about the road expansion. She gave the hee haw answer and said Ryan Road was set for expansion in the future (date unknown). The board agreed it would bring additional traffic but approved the subdivision anyway. The reason given from what I heard this how it has been done in the past. The reason we have real traffic issues is because on how things were done in the past. It is time we hold the people in City government accountable for our roads and traffic. I understand the county and city see more property tax revenue to spend on I dont know what. Maybe it goes to the cost of legal bills of being a sanctuary city. One other example I like to throw out is Loop 288 from Colorado Blvd to I-35. Ever notice that all times of the day the traffic is bad. Part of the problem on 288 is they have too many traffic lights bunch up together and of course it narrows down to a funnel at i-35. I was involved in a road built in another state and attended all the meetings. One fact was brought up no traffic light should be located within 1/2 mile of each other because it cause traffic issues. This is from a national study by the highway traffic safety. I think we three in the area less then a mile a part We have out grown our roads and we continue to build new subdivisions and businesses reasons on the roads that cant handle them. We need to get proactive and not reactive in our thinking in Denton. The city needs to serve the people of Denton and not give the Buckees of the world tax breaks. I understand that Buckees will be a great employer for the city of Denton, maybe up to 200 part time jobs. I do understand giving breaks to real companies that can bring full time decent paying jobs to the area with the potential for growth. Lets face it Buckees will put up there 86 gas pumps and they are done growing. A gas station is a gas station. Taxes for these type of businesses might help the homeowners tax bills. The city/county needs to stand up and say no developments or business that add to the traffic issues until the roads are able to handle the traffic.

  12. Not a well played game by any means, but a victory and that is what counts. I don't think I have seen a NT team with this many close games;. Horrible executed plays at the end of game and ot. Woolridge and Draper were the heroes, but again a maximum effort from most. This team is so short handed, but still has been in nearly every game.

  19. Buckees is helping finance the bridge that is going in at that intersection, BTW. If they didn't, it's tough to say how long it would have taken for the City to come up with the funds to make that improvement given their troubles expanding roads. It's likely Buckees was going to build there regardless of whether they got the tax break or not. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have helped pay for the bridge without the tax abatement though. Up in the Frisco area along 380 right next to the DNT, Cinemark wants to build a large theater and threatened to walk away from the development unless the City upgraded 380. I can't speak to whether Cinemark offered any funds to help with the improvement but guess what, the City found the money to upgrade the roads because City leaders know they'd miss out on a lot of sales tax revenue.

  20. Based on what? Last year’s student section attendance was terrible. It was markedly worse than 2016. What caused that? We already don’t have great attendance on the alumni side and this increase has the potential to make it worse.

  22. Kind of funny to hear him talk of respect. As for the possibility of finding a job with a Vandy degree, I could go for that if he didn't mention the "next 10 years". So unless he plans to only work for 10 years, this is because he thinks he has a shot in the nfl.

  26. I was surprised to see how hard LaTech hits DFW. I started noticing a couple seasons ago. I want to recall - maybe I'm wrong - that they have a full-time recruiter living in DFW and working the area as his sole responsibility.

  29. I will never understand why some of you are TOO GOOD to pay $240 to seat your family of four in the family section. Unbelievable that your line of thinking is “if I can’t get my 50 yard line seats I’m entitled to at the same price I’ve always paid, I just won’t go.”

  31. The Atlanta Falcons model on concession pricing shows otherwise. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/22212592/atlanta-falcons-drop-prices-make-more-money-mercedes-benz-stadium-concessions Yes, at this point it does relate to ticket and/or required donations. No way should current season ticket holders be asked to pay more for their same seats. Tickets prices as a whole in areas of our stadium that aren’t typical (if ever) occupied should have a lower price point. We need butts in the stands regardless of price paid. These said butts will spend money on concessions and maybe even apparel. More importantly our players and potential recruits want to see fans.

  33. Woolridge is up 8 minutes per game over last year and 9 minutes per game in Conference. His overall FG%, 2P%, 3P%, and FT% are all down, coincidence?, i think not. Not to mention, he leads CUSA in minutes played.

  34. Its as simple as supply and demand. I drove my family of five to Denton for 4 home games and held season tickets for the first time this year. The cost of travel and the increase will likely prevent me from being a season ticket holder in the coming year. I do understand the thinking by the athletic department but I believe its a bit premature. IMO it makes a lot of sense to do this next year if the seasons goes as planned.

  35. To put this in perspective of just how much the improvement SL and company have brought here, this list has us 11th overall in the G5s. Three years ago, as SL got hired we were dead last on most lists of worst programs in America. That is absolutely insane...

  39. "If we can't sell out the stadium, lets at least sell out the Wing" -Wren Baker Disclosure: Wren didn't really say this. It's a joke. But I feel like some will start buying cheaper tickets and move freely to the middle sections. As for me, I'll be awaiting my renewal notice and tax return before I make a decision.

  40. This will naturally be followed by an increase in enforcement by the Yellow Jackets by making people show their tickets in order to enter the premium seat area, to which people will respond by complaining about the getstapo tactics being employed. And around and around the crazy train goes. Choo choo!!
