  2. Because of the public nature of Twitter and how out there the information is, there is no possible way to punish a single program for this and not get themselves into a huge nightmare. They would have to punish all if they do punish. I would imagine that they would be more likely to send out a general warning to everyone if they do anything. I think the more likely scenario is that they do absolutely nothing.

  3. ---Obama sure wasn't elected because of race ....but a lot of people voted against him because of his background.... He won in spite of it .... and because of terrible economic conditions at election time (fall 2008)---- car companies being bailed out ..., the other party had invaded a country based on the fact they had nuclear weapons when they didn't and Americans were dying needlessly there plus it made the Mid-east situation worse... , unemployment was increasing rapidly,.. ... Banks in trouble and being bailed out ...., homes being repossessed.... , DOW down 7000 points from 13,000+, and more. .. ..... That win had more to do with conditions plus a ditzy VP candidate who would have been in charge of the Senate and would have replaced the President had he died.... Second election ... conditions had really improved from 2008..... .---Trump may have won because of race ... he did get endorsed by the KKK and carried every Southern state. . .... and claiming he wanted to build a wall by the Rio Grande which would take Texas rancher's land resulting in 1000's of wild animals (deer etc.) dying because they could not get to their water supply plus their cattle's water supply.. (I own ranch-land)... He also tells a lot of whoppers and people believed him plus a lot of people were tired of Clintons.

  4. Dodge was a "high risk high reward" hire that blew up in our face. The biggest problem I saw was that he brought most of his high school staff with him, and they were over their heads. As far as money, we paid him more than Dickey, which shows you how little we had to work with. This was the 1st nail in R.V.'s coffin, from which he never recovered. This hiring mistake was compounded by replacing Dodge with Coach Mac, who ran an offense that probably looked good in the 80's. The success he had during our HOD victory was with Dodge's recruits except for Thompson, who I believe was signed by Dickey.

  5. I can't speak for everyone but I liked Obama because he was an intelligent, articulate person with whom I agreed on many issues. To suggest he was elected because he was black seems strange to me. Do you really think that being a minority is a political advantage?

  8. THE STUDENT FEE! WE NEED THAT MONEY IN LIEU OF THE LOST TV REVENUE. I heard on the news it would be around 3.125 Million. Dr. Smatresk and Wren Baker would take that amount and increase its purchasing power two fold just by making intelligent and wise decisions.

  10. ---This claim seems crazy to me ... being black lost him many MORE votes than it gained. None of the Southern states voted for him and they have the largest black population percent-wise. I could name towns that went 90% against him that had never voted that one-sided before. Yes it gained him some votes... but it lost a whole lot more... think what a small percent of Americans are black anyway.. ..... The terrible economy in fall of 2008 and having an opposing VP candidate that was a "bit strange and rather unqualified" got him elected. [ been a while but in one interview she did not even seem to realize North and South Korea are actually two different countries and not parts of the same country.... there were other odd comments.] I think it was after that interview that the GOP really shut her down on doing interviews. --- that racial claim is very bogus.

  11. He came here because of NTSU administration and there lack of support for athletics...their the dumb ones. Some have great success at the HS level and some at college. Unfortunately, he couldn't make the transition. Did we learn from our mistake????Nope..had to go thru this again didn't we.

  14. I don't understand your comment at all, and I saw all Parker's NT home games plus some travel. What you describe is dumb only because it didn't work. I assume if he had normally kicked the ball and the other team scored that would also be a dumb decision. If you watch Parker teams you would know he was very aggressive and yes it sometime resulted in some very bad consequences. I am not so sure I would call a two time high school state champion coach at the highest level a "dumb" coach.

  17. Just some head's up info regarding this year's CUSA Basketball Tournament. As everyone is pretty much aware, the tournament will be help in Frisco at the Star this year. That is fantastic news for UNT fans for certain, but, it does come with some caveats. The biggest being, that if we want the tournament to remain local, UNT needs to show up BIG TIME! That means in both rears in the seats and in ticket sales. As I understand it, our ticket "guarantee" is around $38,000.00. Looks like a big number, but it is definitely doable for UNT fans...and then some. Some specifics: Tournament Dates: March 7-10, 2018 Location: Ford Center at the Star in Frisco Tickets: ALL general admission...and, at this point two levels...general seating $125.00 and Premium seating $180.00 per ticket. If you look at the UNT Ticket Office site on Ticketmaster you can see the court configuration. There will be two courts at the Star turned perpendicular to the current seating for football. The $125.00 tickets appear to be in the "football" seating area while the premium are courtside. Looks as if only one side of each court will have seating (all this from a view of the Ticketmaster site). I have been told that the premium tickets will allow one to watch any game at any time and all games throughout the tournament. This would include both men's and women's games. The $125.00 will not allow this all-access, and will be more "game specific". I have no clue if that is exactly true nor how the "game specific" would work. Just passing on info as I have it at this point in time. PLEASE FOLKS...if you are looking to purchase tickets to the CUSA Tournament, it is important that you purchase through the UNT site IF we want to try to keep this tournament in Frisco for a few years to come. I believe the current contract is for two years only at the Star. With UNT's partnership with the Cowboys and with UNT pretty much hosting these games along with The Star and CUSA, it would be great to see UNT fans come out in big numbers to support the tournament and both its men's and women's teams. If anyone has any additional or updated info, please post it here as a central CUSA BB Tournament Thread. Might help everyone to just have a central place for "one-stop CUSA shopping". And, yes, I ordered my two Premium level CUSA tickets today on-line through the UNT ticket site on Ticketmaster. Easy...no problems at all. Hope to see a big MEAN GREEN turnout at this year's tournament. Would help to get some high seeds of course. So, come on men, come on ladies!!!

  20. ...and were just as quickly scared to death when he brought both coordinators with him from Southlake. Anyone who witnessed that 79-10 thrashing in Norman could not possibly have been excited about the hire from then on. Also, bad hire doesn't cut it. His hire was a disaster. The worst hire in the history of the school, and it is not close. The Dodge era is what is responsible, more than anything, for the current perception of North Texas football being a wasteland. I guess I should say prior to this year. Dodge was viewed as a football celebrity who was just a pure "winner." I had extended family who didn't give a crap about UNT who followed along casually during those years (never, mind you, actually witnessing a game) and they always thought that this "winner" would eventually get UNT turned around. When he got fired his reputation didn't really take that big a hit, outside Denton. It was the North Texas stink/suck that kept him from winning, and not the other way around. Thus, it became fashionable to think that it was impossible to win in Denton. He was a good man, but good freaking gravy he NUKED North Texas.

  21. Really wish/hope we could push and look into this more as a fan base. It could be a potentially huge advantage with our fan base and notable sports media personal all over DFW because if they perform it will only lead to more UNT coverage. . @AustinFromUNT has tweeted repeatedly at WB asking him if UNT would/could do a fan meeting on what is and isn’t allowed in terms of recruiting, but never gotten a reply I believe. I do think a meeting from the AD office on what is/isn’t allowed would be great and a way for WB/SL also to communicate with fans as well (and potentially be an event for season tickets sales or donations). I do think it has hurt us at times the lack of support a recruit could get from a UNT offer compared to other schools, but it’s not the specific reason we lost someone. I also, hope we can have more respectful fans as well if we do decide to turn up the twitter performance. The negative comments about recruits going else where (like Thompson to Vandy) only hurt us.

  24. A lot of unnecessary shots at a coach I don’t even remember. The only way I would care is if you could show me how his leadership led to programs like Boise State (a former Conference rival) shooting way past us in the FBS pecking order. Otherwise wish him well and just move on.

  28. Some reason people think Kiffin is nothing without Briles, not sure why. We will be ok. FIU has no QB. They are going to have a fall back season next year. They have a lot good things but they have ZERO QB talent at the moment. Hard to overcome.

  29. You left out the worst mistake that happened earlier in that game, where on a drive deep in their territory we threw the ball away out the back of the endzone on 4th down(instead of kicking a FG)...because we mistakingly thought it was 3rd down. I'm sitting there pulling my hair out asking myself....."And this is who we chose over the great Paul Johnson??????". Rick

  35. No, you do that by winning and not getting your ass kicked on national television. Can't believe you're still pushing this "close wins aren't good enough" BS.

  36. You can settle for close wins.. I’m not settling.. I want to pack Apogee, get students joining the MGC after graduation and increasing that .03% membership rate for alumni and you do that by going out and beating down programs FAU style..

  37. When Darrell was coaching I reached out to Hank to see what I could to support the program. The result was the football banquet which I sponsored thru my company, Zimmer-White. It quickly out grew our humble beginnings and The Outback became its sponsor. The banquet was very popular with alumni, and well attended. However, for some reason coach Mac decided to eliminate alumni participation, and I don't know if it continued for "players only" or not. We also had a basketball banquet during J.J.'s tenure, but it bit the bisque as well.

  40. Jason Bean/Kason Martin I can't decide!!! I'm excited about them both. I know Kason Martin has been getting a lot of love on here (and rightly so), but please don't sleep on Jason Bean. With the right coaching, Jason Bean could become one of the most unstoppable players North Texas has ever had. I truly believe we will win our first CUSA championship with one of these guys as our quarterback! Go Mean Green!!!

  43. Benford’s last season was going to be a lost season anyway. There were lots of things in play, including still paying off the McCarney contract. If by waiting it meant that we were able to get McCasland, keep Woolridge, Lawson, and Simmons from leaving then it doesn’t seem all bad. The comments claiming that waiting proves that the university isn’t serious about sports seems misguided.

  44. What do you expect him to say? He has to be confident & tell you he knows what he's doing. He says, "well folks, I'm a little over my head here, I'm not sure what half of these buttons are...", everyone gets off the plane (re: players) before it takes off. And adapt to what? He has no clue... because the level of planes/football is entirely different. For you sir: Imagine a small-town cop rises to become Chief of police in his town of 5000 people & he's great at it. The next job he takes is the Dallas PD/Houston PD Chief. He was offered the job by someone dumb enough (or cash-strapped enough) to offer it to him... why wouldn't he take it? But he's gonna be in WAAAAY over his head, right? He's still gonna come in confident in himself because of how great it went in his town of 5k, and will project that confidence onto everyone so they'll buy-in. He'll be exposed in a matter of time, but if he comes in ho-hum & unsure, no one will follow him from the jump. Todd Dodge was a terrible HC during his tenure here. There's no way around that. There's no defense for it. He was in WAY over his head. He tried his best, but had no clue what to do. However, my disgust isn't aimed at him, it's aimed at those who set the budget & made the choices to hire him... then just let the fire burn for way too long (see also: the Benford fire).

  45. Both SL is starting year 3. He already has eclipsed Dodge in the win department (actually, he was one win short of Dodge's total in ONE year) Let's wait until his tenure is equal to Dodge to judge NFL production. And let me just leave this right here...it's an exerpt from Tim McMahon's article after Dodge was fired. "North Texas fired head coach Todd Dodge, who had the lowest winning percentage in school history, on Wednesday morning. Dodge, who was hired in 2006 after winning 79 of his last 80 games at Southlake Carroll High, had a 6-37 record at North Texas. The Mean Green are 1-6, ensuring that Dodge won't get to the seven-win mandate set by athletic director Rick Villarreal." If only we were an affluent high school.

  46. So he was first team all state. A couple of different outlets in Oklahoma has named him player of the year. Now Maryland, a Big 10 ten has offered him. Ernie must have donated some money to Maryland..... Or could it be that Litrell and co. actually know a football player when they see one?
