  1. "Iowa, Army, FAU, Troy all received Top 25 votes." "The only loses we had were to those teams." Thus, Army was a loss??? No biggy, but what am I misreading here? Go easy on me. I'm old and can't understand the written word like I use to.

  2. We have a winner here...everything you just posted is exactly right. As a matter of fact, for us in the G5’s it’s even worse. We don’t even get to play for a championship.

  4. The punt block cost the game. Fromm getting dragged down by the face mask cost the game. The ridiculous pass interference cost the game. College football is an official joke now. They want certain teams to win. Alabama lost their division and conference. It's a bs joke. It's a monopoly and I'm not going to pay it any attention in the future. College football championships are an invitational, not a playoff. Not a sporting event. Its bs.

  5. Sucks that it killed your enthusiasm to this point. As others have pointed out, Grant’s team plays extremely hard. Think you’d really enjoy this brand of basketball. It’s a great pallet cleanser after the Benford era. I renewed season tickets this year after not doing the last three. I travel a bunch for work and can’t make every game. If you ever want to try this team out without investment on your end, let me know. Be happy to hook you up with tickets so you can see for yourself what we’re all talking about. This team is a ton of fun to watch and Grant is an excellent coach.

  11. Looks like UNT played four teams that got consideration for the Top 25....Iowa, Army, FAU, Troy all received Top 25 votes. That bodes well for our team. The only loses we had were to those teams. Our next goal should be Top 25 consideration, if not well established in the Top 25 http://www.espn.com/college-football/rankings/_/poll/1/week/1/year/2017/seasontype/3

  12. Now that we have a new AD, new football coach and new basketball coach. Now that we are having winning seasons and higher expectations. Now that things are looking better gauged against any metric you choose. When will your attitude improve?

  14. Need to find a solid replacement for Moore. GH continue to work with Fine mechanics, needs to step into throws, far to many he is hopping off back foot ==> under thrown balls. Shore up the O-Line and D-Line Work on coverage Could be better; instead it "SHOULD" be better in 2018

  17. Same reason kids go to Sam Houston, Stephan F., Mary Hardin Baylor, Mount Union, James Madison and South Dakota State......You don't get any offers from an FBS conference school because you don't fit the stereotype for whatever position or didn't play against quality opponents because you only went to a 2A or 3A high school in Texas. FCS is filled with LOTS of good football players. NDSU is just like Alabama and other top flight winning schools, winning programs recruit themselves.

  22. Absolutely no chance that will ever involve anyone outside of the Power 5. Only way you can backdoor your way in would be to BYU it, going independent, having a schedule chock full of name teams, and being independent enough to get included. That is BYU's path forward and it only works for them if the thing playoff expands to 8, which I doubt it will. I suspect it will go the NFL playoff route, where they have 2 teams receive a bye and not playing until New Years Day against the winners of the first round games. This year, that would've been Alabama vs Ohio State in one first round game, with Georgia playing USC in the other one. The lower seed would've played Clemson in the Sugar Bowl, while the higher seed would've played OU in the Rose Bowl. If it would've been 8 teams, the quarterfinals would've been Clemson vs USC, OU vs Auburn, UGa vs Wisconsin, and Bama vs tOSU. The next three teams ranked in the final FBS poll were Penn State, Miami, and Washington. Nowhere in there would UCF, who was ranked 12th after the final poll in December, or any other non-power team have been included. Memphis at 20 and Boise State at 25 were the only non P5s in the poll. And, to prove the point even further, in the AP poll released this morning, undefeated UCF finished 6th. USF, who won their bowl game against Texas Tech and finished 10-2, got a final ranking of 21st. Boise State beat Oregon in their bowl game to get a 22nd final ranking, and Memphis lost to Iowa State but finished at 25. It took a G5 team going undefeated for the AP to rank them just outside of the top 5 teams in the country. 5 teams in front of UCF all lost twice and they beat the team that beat both championship squads last night. And it took losing two games, including 1 to UCF, for USF to get ranked just outside of the top 20. That USF team got ranked BEHIND a 5 loss Stanford team, as well as 4 loss teams in Miss State, LSU, and Auburn. Meanwhile, down here in the lower G5s, Army received 33 votes, CUSA Champ FAU received 32 votes, and SBC champ Troy received 13 votes. The MAC champ didn't get 1 vote for being in the top 25 in the AP poll. And yet people here act like there is some groundswell to get the G5s included in anything playoff oriented. The NCAA has more than proven they aren't gonna do anything to help this. The bowls have shown they won't do anything to change this. The networks have shown they have zero interest in helping change this. And the national media and poll voters continue to show very little respect or interest in G5 football. Again, it won't happen, but the G5s should just say no to bowls going forward, except for the top BCS spot. Instead, create a playoff and give these kids and their fans a chance to win a national championship the way P5s, FCS, Division 2, and Division 3 get to earn. Right now, all we get at this level are a few bodybag games in OOC every year, plus a few slots against P5 teams in bowls. This year, Boise beat Oregon, USF beat TT, Duke beat NIU, FSU destroyed USM, Navy destroyed UVa, Iowa State beat Memphis, and UCF beat Auburn. That was 7 matchups out of 40 bowl games played. I would've much rather seen a playoff with UCF, USF, Memphis, Navy, Army, Toledo, Akron, FAU, UNT, UAB, Boise State, Fresno State, SDSU, Wyoming, Troy, and Appy State. That would have been very enjoyable to watch over the month of December.

  23. I've always liked this system because it is not really a system it is just looking at the facts. We are seeing what guys who have skin in the game have staked their jobs on. That is more telling. That gives us better insight than what one Rivals scout rated a guy. The recruiting sites are not a perfect measure, for the reasons @BillySee58 mentioned -- they do not reveal their system of ratings, it is nonstandard and fluctuates by evaluator, and do too much fan-service to the paying customers. If the Rivals guy that rated Ivery is wrong, what incentive does he have to be right? If Seth Littrell is wrong on Mason Fine, what happens? He gets fired. The story on Fine's recruitment hinted at this -- Might have been Stoops that said something to the effect of "If I take him and I'm wrong I get fired" . This tells you why schools are less likely to take the undersized guys and why they still could succeed. But overall the better rated, bigger, stronger, recruits that are desired by the national champs are going to get lots of offers and do better overall. This way of evaluating classes distills a number of factors down in an easy to read number** . After all, it doesn't matter how many guys they wanted if they did not get them. It also does not matter how many talents they identified first if it they ultimately signed elsewhere. What matters is how many talented guys are in Green on game day. --- Also, getting a QB is a priority, and this staff hit a home run on that. That is the first step in turning a program around. They absolutely need to hit on front 7 guys on defense and front 5 guys on offense. I liked the previous OL haul, although at this level finding game-changers is extremely difficult. Having a CUSA version of Louisville -- great skill guys with a line that is awful -- is not the worst place to be but this game is still built around the fronts -- see the CFP -- and that's where NT will need to win battles in the future. *** ** Although I would like to see the B+ percentage standardized to account for the differing number of scholarships in a season. We could simply state it as a percentage of 85 to get an idea of the number of B+ rated guy on the roster at a given time. After all having 3 B+ players (3/6) is a better class than 1 (1/2) but they could have the same percentage in theory. *** UTSA hit big on Marcus Davenport and developed him into an NFL prospect. He nearly won UTSA that game by destroying our line and hitting Mason Fine. Finding diamonds is possible but it is not likely. Every team wants to hit on diamonds but it cannot be your main recruiting strategy at the OL / DL level.

  24. insulting that an Ohio State team that got blasted by OU and an average Iowa team, a Clemson team that lost to a bad Syracuse team finish ahead of UCF who beat Auburn who beat both CFP Finals teams.

  28. Saw a projection for 2018 top 25.... FAU was #21 We could very well have a legit top 25 team come to Apogee next season. I hope our season goes as well as last season. That game could have a lot of hype.

  29. I mean who wants to go to an SEC school anyway, ACC is where it's at now. (also ftr, since it's being tossed around, Vandy + ULL + Toldedo = 30 draft picks since Cody Spencer) It's ok to say Vanderbilt > North Texas. Really is. What do we take away from it? Win = Better recruits Better recruits = NFL draft NFL = Even better recruits While we've been in a black hole of suck, we're still in the middle of working our way out from those depths. We are Daniel Plainview, broken leg and all, dragging ourselves out of that ditch.

  32. Refs missed far more than a blocked punt. I'm not a tin foil hat wearing conspiracy theorist, but that game was definitely called in the way of 1 team.

  33. Alabama wore down Georgia's defense and made them look very average in the 4th quarter. However, if the refs don't blow the call on the blocked put Georgia probably wins.

  36. No one can make anyone be a fan, but I really don't understand your view. If you were a fan in the past, why let a questionable decision to allow Benford an extra year deprive you of seeing the best NT basketball in decades. No the team isn't yet as good as some of Jones' best, but McCasland is a far superior coach than Jones. You are also not likely to see any team consistently play any harder. If you like NT and college basketball, I don't understand a boycott against a program that is currently doing almost everything right. I assume you are not a football fan because you had to quit when Dodge was hired or McCarney given an contract extension. Both of those bad decisions dwarf how many years Benford was allowed. Even worse was the hiring of RV and allowing him a 15 year career with NT.

  37. Just this morning an alum who attended a few games during the Jones era, and never bothered with Benford, told me he had taped the Georgetown game and just got around watching it. He grew up in northern Va and went to a lot of Big East and ACC games in his youth. He said we finally have someone who knows how to coach (he said neither Trilli or Jones or Benford could coach) and he is coming back.

  38. One quit because he was scared a WR was going to take his job based on the dude's last name. Scared. One quit after his dad was canned halfway through a season (that he finished). I likely wouldn't want to hang around anymore either if people were constantly dragging my dad's name through the mud, whether he deserved it or not.

  40. A lot of good work done by him, but time to bring in a HS relations guy who can really take us to the next level with his connections. IMO make this position 90-95K a year and watch the HS coaches flock to it. Hell I'd do it and drive all over the state and into LA etc for 65 a year.

  43. So he was first team all state. A couple of different outlets in Oklahoma has named him player of the year. Now Maryland, a Big 10 ten has offered him. Ernie must have donated some money to Maryland..... Or could it be that Litrell and co. actually know a football player when they see one?

  46. If we go undefeated next year or you I am all for declaring us the national championship. The second they let us in, the recruiting will be wide open once you show you can win the whole thing anywhere. And then opps, there goes the money for P5. I hate cartels.

  47. Update... Working with Student Affairs (and getting great cooperation) to have the parking meters along Highland St. not monitored by the Campus Police for the game. That would certainly help. I am VERY hopeful that, with the help of Student Affairs, we can pull this off.
