  1. Man, can you imagine how sick the folks in Ames are going to get from hearing Denton, Denton, Denton and look at this big ass ring I got in Denton?

  4. See how a 5-8 "bowl" team is perceived?? SEE???!!! Even by lowly UAB fans. They are very confident and need to be knocked down to reality. I don't think they are aware of how difficult this little comeback of theirs is going to be moving forward. Like a said, this is a must win Saturday.

  5. Know what I've come to hate more than just about anything during the Littrell era? 3rd Downs. Offensive, Defensive, doesn't matter. 3rd down has proven extremely frustrating over the past season+.

  8. Rod Young now starting at Nose. Knew that was just going to be a matter of time. He's going to be a serious force when he gets to the outside once Bryce returns. It's nice because Sid Moore is playing so well, so we don't have to worry about being thin out there. Just hold down the fort DL! The cavalry is coming.

  9. You know what I did notice on their board.......NOBODY was criticizing the hell out of players, coaches, the University, Administration, the AD and AD Department.... They talked about winning, why we can't/shouldn't beat them, what they need to do to be better in the future....but absolutely NO BASHING..... We could certainly learn a lot from the UAB faithful... #GOMEANGREEN!!!!

  11. this more than anything else. it's so mentally deflating on both sides of the ball to do good work on first and second and then piss it away on third. Iowa converted on 61% of their third downs...and 80% of their fourth downs. UNT converted 0% on either. SMU converted 50% of their third downs...and 100% of their fourth downs. UNT converted a combined 39% on third and fourth hell...get those ratios to 50% on either side and I'll be relatively happy and can live with some aggressive penalties. I realize that's still a decent opponents conversion rate, but I don't want to go getting too good on third down defensively...means we'll see more punt returns. those make me too nervous.

  12. We have depth there. However, in light of the depth, your concern is valid in that leaving Fine in the whole game regardless of the score is dangerous to Fine's physical well being.

  14. Week 3 was a tough matchup for the Mean Green, and I think a lot of us came away rather impressed with the effort. Now, it's time to kick-off conference play, and lucky-for-us, we draw the feel-good-story Blazers of UAB! After 2 different weeks of extreme challenges for our defense, it will be nice to draw a squad that doesn't have an incredible <fill-in-the-blank player/unit>. They'll be very well coached, but they'll be overmatched by the Mean Green this week. There is 2 weeks worth of frustration built up for our guys. If they can keep that extra motivation under control and stay focused, they should come out and immediately impose their will against UAB. If they're overly-amped, look for the costly mistakes/penalties to continue to pile up, and the game will be sloppy & closer than it should be. Offensively, I look for Wilson to get rolling again, and for Mason to continue working on stretching the field with Guyton. Should be a pretty big day offensively. Defensively, I expect a shaky UAB OL to have a tough time with UNT's defensive front 7 with all the blitzes/stunts/uncertainty about where pressure is coming from. Should be a field day for Ejiya again. Not saying I expect this to be a blowout because UAB will score some... because they'll likely get some 3rd down conversions offensively while we shoot ourselves in the foot on 3rd down offensively. But it should be apparent throughout the game which team is superior. UNT: 38 UAB: 24

  15. Good: Iowa game reminds me a lot of Florida game last year, but with a much better offense Despite lopsided loss, overall this was one of Littrell's best games Shanbour looked really solid, backup QB will see a lot of action Linebackers, a big question mark, played very well and are proving to be a plus unit Pass defense was substantially improved Defensive line played very well for most of the game Overall defense got gassed in the second half, still gave up few big plays DL Young had lb number of tackles, super game Mohammad is an unexpected force Great run by Wilson Fine continues to grow, one tough player Nine receivers had receptions Best offensive pass blocking in recent memory Bad: Iowa completely controlled game in second half Lack of defensive depth was evidence NT offense can't score if they are not on the field As a P5 program, Iowa was just much deeper Another loss in a guarantee game Ugly: Penalties, this game could have been a lot closer Many penalties were of the stupid variety NT discipline has to improve Punting, NT should forget about the rugby kicks

  17. When the quarter started down by 3 points = A chance to win the game Later in the 4th Quarter down by 10 points = A chance to win the game again, you don't seem to understand the wording of a "chance" to win the game, and "close" to winning the game. As the 4th quarter winded down our "chances" became less and less, but down 3 points going into the 4th quarter by any metric known to man, is a giving yourself a "chance" to win the game.

  22. True, they could have but they didn't. There isn't a special column on the stat sheet to tell everyone that a player was pulled because he was injured, or the coach wanted to rest him, or whatever. You, as an individual, can discount every single stat that exists for whatever reason but the fact still stands ... there has not been a single opposing rusher that has run for more than 100 yards.

  23. long time eating drives are bad for anyone. Iowa made a conscious and concerted effort to keep the ball. a big 10 school played as stereotypical big 10 football as possible in the second half because they both knew they could and that they had to. Iowa has 12, mostly generic white dude OLs all tipping the scales at 280 or better...and all but 3 of them are from Iowa, in case anyone thought we were losing recruiting battles...they just kept cycling in zone-blocking fatties and wore down our smaller line

  24. it's easier when you're drawing a lot of modern punters from soccer backgrounds...also...when have you ever seen a blocked rugby-style punt? that's actually the whole point of the utilization of that technique...it may not be the prettiest, but it's going to have top-spin and it's going to give the punter time and space in almost all circumstances.

  27. yeah, i give the defense 5 stars for this game, they are the reason we were in it... and yes, they wore down in the second half, but that's because our offense was hardly able to sustain a drive in the second half (maybe three first downs?) so they were constantly on the field, facing Iowa's fresh 3rd and 4th RB... I'm a little disappointed we didnt take some more risks offensively in the second half with maybe a trick play or going for it on fourth down.

  30. There isn't a game on our schedule we can't win, period. I'm just not seeing Southern Miss as a loss. Sure, they will be coming off of a bye week, but what have they done? *UTSA and *La Tech will be the two toughest games, but outside of those two, we should win the rest. * There is not any reason that we can't win these games.

  34. "Bamanblazerfan" seems to have the right mentality for their fan base: Expect to lose, grow & get better this season, and let Clark continue to do his thing. Clark is probably a top 5 coach in the league. Lots of talk about history on there (mentions of Portland St., 2014?)... which is understandable since they haven't played, but this is year 2 of a completely different regime.

  36. I feel a lot better going into this conference season than I did last year. That said, our team simply can't afford to overlook anyone on the schedule including UAB. I know we have the talent to beat them, but will we? From UAB standpoint, THEY want this game badly. We really need to get them down quickly and keep them there. I honestly don't see any team left on the schedule that we simply can't beat, but several will require us to play very, very, VERY well. We can't afford terrible special teams play against La Tech. We can't have continuous stupid penalties against Southern Miss. We must have better 3rd down production on both sides of the ball against UTSA. While we can beat any team left on the schedule, we can also lose to any team left if we don't play our best.

  41. Were we not expecting that against Iowa? I know I was. Iowa's OL versus a defense with 3 down linemen, built for speed? Once they decided to butter their bread, it was over. Started out throwing the ball for some reason, but then realized that they have road graders up front and just started rolling. I wondered what was taking so long. Nothing surprising there. The defense won't see another OL like that again this year. Rice's/ODU's OLs are decent, and UTEP's OL is big, but none of them are like Iowa's. We'll be fine in conference play.

  42. Just another awful decision by this crackpot AD. We were told they couldn't set the pole because of moisture in the soil... Come to find out, it was because they were still trying to purchase the used utility truck. LIES! GLOBALLY speaking? This is America!

  44. Let's be clear here. What you're saying is that UAB's coach with no real games since 2014 has taken a team coming back off a self imposed death penalty with an entirely new roster and in 3 regular season games they are on par with Littrell's squad that has a bowl game under their belt? Can we hire away UAB's coach? He seems to be some kind of magician.
