  1. After going to the games I will no longer be able to attend anymore UNT basketball games because of a vision problem. I can not see going to anymore games until we have a new coach.

  2. im watching the game so yes i realize this...i also realize Benford has ran this program FAR into the ground. He deserves to be ragged on 24/7 365

  3. So everyone here has a point but no one is exactly 100% right? Cool. Looking forward to everyone shaking hands and moving forward amicably. Thanks for posting!

  4. It can only be the bait and switch if we waited to tell him he was switching positions AFTER he was signed and on campus. Sounds like we had a little buyer's remorse and found a way to get a refund without looking too bad.

  5. tough to shake hands when everyone's are so full with participation trophies. these threads a meant to determine winners and losers.

  6. http://www.scout.com/player/195497-lagaryonn-carson Looks like we are in his final three with A$M and Baylor. Wouldn't that be something if he ended up in Denton.

  11. Looks like he wants to still go to Texas but got scholarship taken away because of grades. Have to think that if he is a late qualifier all of his other offers won't be valid anymore as those schools will probably fill up classes, with Baylor maybe being exception. Hopefully we keep a spot open and he found his way to Denton. Would have to be one of the best high school players UNT has ever added. Will be interesting to follow him and Eleasah Anderson to see where they could end up. They could be the type of lucky adds that could turn things around real fast, though still not likely they end up with either.

  12. A culture of losing begats many things & an inferiority complex ranks toward the top. It was the 1975 season that set the bell weather for this North Texas alum as to what direction this program should have been going the whole time and should still be to this day. And I....won't......back.....down! (T. Petty) GMG!

  14. https://www.profootballfocus.com/qbs-in-focus-deep-passing-2/ You are correct, typically crossing routes occur in 1-5 yard range. In the Mesh concept gif posted above the crossing route is ran by Thad and I can't make other receivers number. The dig which should be between 15-17 is gorgeous. The WR is running a bit too much upfield before the catch (could be where the ball took him I can't see his break from that angle). Look you believe what you want. I agree Mason needs to be better on his fades but I am of the belief it's a timing issue for him and not an arm strength issue. Guess time will prove one of us right and one of us wrong.

  15. Put the name Bowl on a game & we show up--even if our team only won 5 games. Put the name Bowl on a game after our 4'th winning year in row with a team ranked in the Top 25 & (per the HOD Bowl contract playing a Big 10 opponent) North Texas fans could fill up half or more the 94,000 seat Cotton Bowl stadium. With our burgeoning constituency that includes a projected (by the state of Texas) enrollment of 45K, subsequent growing alumnus numbers & a Denton County that will be at 1,000,000 population in a few short years, why do some still want to wave the white flag of being in a G5 (might as well call it 1-AA) playoff? It's not about the past at North Texas, but rather our future & that is why Wren Baker took the UNT AD job in the first place. ✳️GMG!✳️

  16. What an incredible representative of and ambassador for the program Quite a bit to digest, but according to this attempt to build out a statistical representation of defensive players' values, Orr came in 10th in the NFL in +Expected Points Added... (Robertson ranked #52)

  17. it's not just the bad hire part. it's the fact that everyone could see it wasn't working, yet nothing was done about it. that's the issue.

  18. Very sad. Shows how one bad hire can undo years of momentum in a sport. Now we are a rebuild job.

  19. It is unbelievable to me how this program has deteriorated in the last 5 years. I cannot fathom what would happen if Benford gets extended. I believe that there were more people at a post game student slam dunk contest when Jimmy Gales was coach than now attend men's home games.

  22. It's a deep dig in stride. Yeah it's an intermediate pass, but he was able to attack the zone of a defense. Something McNulty couldn't do. He hit him in stride, which allowed Smiley to gain more yards after the catch. The Air Raid is designed to attack vertically and horizontally. Most routes are designed to be hit behind the sticks, with the opportunity to explode beyond the sticks. This also sets up the guys on the outside to attack deep every once in a while when the defense cheats on the short stuff. Fine needs to get better at exploiting that. I for one am excited to see Pearson come in. Many folks on this thread have stated several times that Fine needs to improve. Myself included. Not sure why you keep digging in your heels when we are agreeing with you. I've shown you two examples of good throws by Fine that are not 5 yard stick routes. Of course that doesn't mean he's a shoe in, Lord knows the not good tape is not good. But the fact that he's shown evidence of the good means he's capable. Auto start? No. Chance to compete for the starting spot? Yes. I know several on here pointed out some bad fades in the Bethune Cookman game. I (as well as others) pointed out bad passing after the Army win, which I forewarned would eventually not go our way (read: UTSA). You're not the first on here or the last to point out Fine has to be a better passer.

  23. Not a fan of this. Having a bad senior season may be what the coaches are saying, but I don't buy that. What does having a bad senior season mean? I said the same thing with Donovan. Did this guy get smaller, slower, shorter? You don't drop a dude because he drops more passes or misses more blocks then you would've liked. Offers are based on projection of skills to the next level. If they were based on high school production alone, or even primarily, then we'd see a lot more offers for certain kids who have great stats but don't project well to the next level. I think the truth is the coaches are admitting that they misevaluated. As great as that is for them to admit that, it's bad practice for them to accept commitments only to cut ties when the players honestly are remaining the same and just not showing all the signs the coaches would've hoped for. If they're being so selective with commitments, then don't accept commitments from guys you aren't really sold on. Everyone saying Lutz wasn't a good fit, then why accept the commitment? The kid is only 215 lbs, so hoping he could gain 70+ lbs is an unrealistic failsafe. Plus, he made it clear a big part of why he committed was because he was under the impression he would be more of a pass catcher here. This is how you make a bad reputation with high school coaches. Hopefully it doesn't come back to bite us, and we make a good reputation with more schools than not.

  24. You definatly saw the difference from Masons deep ball and Alec's! Being able to have time in the pocket makes a big difference. A lot of that time is determined how quickly the Qb bailes. Hate to say but because of size Mason was bailing a lot quicker than Alec. When you can't see you have to adjust quick. Mason has the arm I hope the Oc gets more created on getting him outside the pocket! Would like to see him in a lot of run pass options! Check some of the Boise State plays of the past with there undersized qbs! GMG

  28. He has looked like that all year. He had surgery on his ankle over summer and then injured his knee to start the season. He hasn't had many flashy dunks and I remember in the San Diego game he just laid it in on a fast break instead of dunking. And now he dunks it haha

  29. His basketball IQ is extremely high. He is smart on both ends of the court and understand the game. He has everything and more you could want from a point guard and he is only a freshman. Whoever inherits this team with Lawson, Woolridge, and Brice will have some weapons.

  30. So, 400-500 in attendance. And we wonder why UNT athletics is in the red?

  31. 173 people here (I counted during the national anthem) and it never fails that people are in our seats. There could be 10 people here and they would be in our seats haha. If this attendance is an indacitor it's not looking good...

  33. Actually it isn't. If kids don't want to play 16 games, they don't have to. No one is making them play college football.

  35. It's a sample of the direct conflict between the AD department and our one person show that runs the URCM department. Neither agreed on much, but I'm with the AD in trying to maintain a marketable uniqueness in "Mean Green". He tried to steer away from the use of UNT because at one point we were a DallasLee away from having it forced onto the helmet. If you want to appreciate RV for anything that is the one battle to do so. My only gripe is this info needs to be on page 1, not page 4. Rick

  36. So ridiculous when the school markets itself, and everyone in the DFW area calls us UNT, for the athletic media guide to say don't call us UNT. What a clown the previous AD was.

  39. Not sure where we will be, but here are my quick thoughts on our 2017 record I've seen enough to believe we will be better than 5 wins. We will make a bowl, and will not need to rely on APR/academic exception to do so. I have not seen enough feel confident this program can win 10+ wins. This view could very well change - and change quickly - depending on what is displayed the first 2-3 games of 2017. /TheEnd

  42. And when they break away from the NCAA, because that's who they will be breaking away from, they will then having incoming freshmen demanding contracts to get paid to play. They will become a professional league. And they won't be able to pad win/loss with games against NCAA teams. They will have to play each other. Don't forget the lawsuit will still be ongoing and on the VERY good chance they lose, they will have to pay damages for prior bad conduct. Leaving the NCAA before the lawsuit was completed would give further evidence of competitive disadvantage to the G5. Keep in mind, the G5s would be suing the P5s AND the NCAA. The P5s wouldn't go anywhere until the suit was done. The possibility of the suit is what keeps them around and keeps them throwing the whore crumbs at the G5s. You say this is going to happen anyway, so why are you so against taking steps to try and prevent it? You going all Clayton Williams on us?

  43. Anyone not alarmed by where we stand recruiting-wise after a pretty nice season rebounding from the 1-11 debacle: Not saying Littrell & Co. can't pull a rabbit out of the hat, but if we can't recruit well after that kind of 1-year turnaround... we're in trouble. I like alot of the pieces currently in place for this class, and hope more like them are on the way... but I'm worried.
