  1. My wife doesn't understand me. We have, as far as I'm concerned, the best seats at Apogee. I like the people we sit with and I like that we've made new friends as a result of our game day experience. I have a good parking pass that helps me get up close when I arrive and keeps me in the parking lot too long when the game is over. I like the meal in the Club Level. Every time. My wife likes to get a glass of wine and watch me pout over bad plays. But, if we lose, I have had a bad day. I try to minimize that, but if we lose, I'm unhappy. Not with my wife or the fans or the stadium or the weather but I'm unhappy. I go to the games, much as I like my seats and my friends and the food and my pretty good parking pass, to win. Period. That is all that matters to me. If we lose, I'll still be there next week or next year, but I only come to win. GO MEAN GREEN

  2. Yes I do find that statement ironic. Or is it idiotic. By all means let's tear down fans for their giving. I mean we have so many to spare we are just culling the heard. At the very first opportunity I had I donated my hard earned money to the stadium project. I had no desire to sit in club seats or meet RV. I desperately wanted UNT to succeed in athletics. End of story. So the stadium is built and my donation covered the commitment for club seats. Hell yes I jumped all over it and the only access I wanted was to a Jack and Coke and some AC. Your comment has me seeing red because no matter their resources everyone who gives to the school has a choice of what to do with their money. We chose UNT. So now the game is to finger point and chastise our own. That is insane. That is disgusting.

  3. In 2015, UNT sold 3,900 season tickets and had 1,124 members in its Mean Green Club, a booster organization that helps fund the program. A study published by Houston this summer listed the booster club membership for every school that competes on the Football Bowl Subdivision level in Texas with the exception of Texas A&M and UTEP. UNT ranked last in that study, trailing Texas-San Antonio (2,203) and SMU (3,541) by significant margins. Those totals show why it is so important for UNT to hang onto donors like King — and find new fans to add to the fold — during a tough time for the program. The school is looking for a new athletic director after Rick Villarreal stepped down this summer. UNT has enjoyed only one winning season in the past 11 years, which presents a challenge for John Nitardy. Nitardy runs the Mean Green Club and said he sees some positive signs despite the program’s struggles. Last year, the club had its highest membership since 2011. UNT officials hope to have more than 1,500 members this year. “It’s going well,” Nitardy said. “But are we where we want to be? No. “My focus since I got here a little over two years ago is increasing the number of members. Obviously, we want to raise more money, and eventually we will, but we need more people involved.” I copied this from Vito's article. This number is embarrassing. We had 1,124 MGC members?? So with the mandatory MGC membership for club seats (and I assume suites upstairs) we sold what MAYBE 700 MGC memberships?? Why is Nitardy being paid by our university? That's pathetic. If I underperformed that bad I'd be fired in a heart beat.

  4. Warped agenda? He wants the athletic department to stop being a bunch of time-clock-punching underachievers. And he wants the fan base to stop saying "wow, this is some great chicken fried steak" when the athletic department keeps handing them a plate of dried cow poop (aka pasture patties). I don't see anything warped about that. Here's a challenge for you. The next four times you post insults at 90, do it without curse words.

  5. Whoa there, Viridis! Many, like me, chose to do our part in helping with the stadium by contributing and buying club seats for five years. That's it. Not to "hob nob" with anyone. I watch the game in comfort(I'm old and need the comfort), and I eat a fair to good buffet at the game. Not everyone in the club section hob nobs with the AD staff. I want comfort and wins. I went to one game last season. Don't broad stroke everyone in the club level.

  6. I continue to be baffled about some members of this fan base obsession with "access" to the AD and coaches. Who gives a crap if you can't get within 100 feet of Nick Saban, he wins football games. You met Seth and Harrell, woop-dee-freakin'-do. I don't want their handshakes, I want them to win some damn football games.

  9. The problem is that MeanGreen_MBA never said he didn't want UNT to win, never said he picked Club Seats to rub elbows with the AD, didn't pick Alabama out of thin air as a comparison, etc... You just twisted everything to fit your agenda. He stated he liked to social aspect of being up there which to me is no different than saying I like my seats in Section 106 because I like the people that sit around me. Sometimes it is best to just bite your tongue or maybe realize that a lot of people share your passion to see us succeed, but they go about it differently.

  11. Brother, Coordinators don't send the FG unit in on 4th & 1, call a TO, bring the offense out, call another TO & send the FG unit back out, only to have it blocked & returned for a TD because no one knew what the heck was going on. i saw it with my own eyes. he needed to climb the ladder under some other great coaches. QB coach, OC, then HC. Then maybe he'd do well.

  14. Fill up the student side by having local bands play after the games. They would do it cheap just to get their names out there. What's not to like about a good garage band?

  17. The comment from my wife being from Alabama, and us having season tickets, is the we still enjoy coming to UNT games and supporting this program.....we make 1-2 games a year with Bama. If an Alabama fan can support UNT in it's current state, why can't everybody. Many forget the BAMA had a very rough decade in the '80s when they didn't see a lot of success, but the fans remained loyal and didn't start turning on everybody and criticizing every move. No bragging.... And yes, I do like the social aspect of the Club Seats....it is nice to be there with like minded fans supporting our program through good and ....BAD times....it is still our program..... I WISH to the end of times we were like BAMA with a sold-out venue every game, and fans going crazy on every play..... But I am still a UNT fan now and forever.....no need to criticize me and others for that....

  18. @unt90 Yes he did. That is how it is written. Some of your comments are equally as bad towards donors. I guess for some giving is not good enough it's HOW you give.

  19. The reasons your access comment struck a nerve are: (i) the reason you get access are because the program is small time, thus it is taken to mean that you want the program to remain small time; and (ii) you juxtaposed it with Alabama which (a) can only be taken as bragging, and (b) tells everyone you have essentially jumped ship when it comes to caring about success of a program. There were no positive reasons to mention (ii), so you should not be surprised that it makes some of us sick. I am so tired of bandwagon fans like all the Steelers fans all over the place who have never been to Pittsburgh for example. That's the kind of thing you're doing. For people who invested in the stadium Club level, I hope you enjoy your hobnobbing. Pandering to the few of you is what has the program in the toilet. No doubt you find that sentiment ironic given your support. The university thinking such few would dig it out is one of the fatal errors they made.

  20. As if we can afford to be picky about reasons people choose to be North Texas fans. If y'all will read the article, you'll see that we have half as many contributors to the MG Club as lowly Texas-San Antonio has to their comparable booster organization. We averaged less than 14,000 in attendance last year. I don't care if some choose to be fans because they like the access. I don't care if some choose to be fans because the breeze at the tip of the Wing Zone makes them feel funny. If the entire Denton Ladies' Auxiliary buys club seats because they think Graham Harrell has a cute tushie, who are we to turn them down? While I'd expect my wants as a Mean Green fan are much more in line with yours, anyone who will be a North Texas fan right now is a good fan, as far as I'm concerned.

  24. UNT alumn Rodolfo Cazaubon had just missed out on qualifying for Rio, but since several players have pulled out and he was the first replacement, we will now see him there. This should be good exposure for him, given that it is a tournament with only 60 players. There is also still a small chance that UNT alumn Sebastian Munoz will make the field if there are a few more withdrawals.

  26. No idea if you have the power or pull, however if you do can you PLEASE make sure that by next camp season prospective students athletes can sign up for our camps online? Do you remember the question I asked about allowing coaches to navigate our website for the THSCA Button to Mr. Keuhne? Well several of my athletes do not have a printer at home, obviously I helped them and got it printed and they filled it out and mailed it in. How many kids have that support? Lets just make it as easy as possible. I am sure I will get 1,000,000,000,000,000 down votes for the link I am going to paste. However, just check out how easy it is to sign up for SMU camp. Google SMU FOOTBALL CAMP, click the first link that pops up. Then go from there very slick layout very cool website. I hope and pray we can get this together under our new AD. http://www.ponyuptempo.com/camps Feedback is appreciated.

  34. I didn't even know who you were until you cussed at me on this thread. I don't agree with your comments and think people who want access more than victories are a problem with this program and the reason we got RV for 15 freaking years. And I could give a crap if you like it or not. Grow up. This is a public forum where people disagree. If you can't take criticism, don't go on record with a reporter. Oddly correct.

  36. Glad to see we already have built in excuses. No excuse to lose to FCS that isn't NDSU, ever. They would kill for the resources we get and the support. No excuse. None. Cookman should be a 30 point easy matchup.

  37. Cosh gets beat up on here, and he probably deserves it, but the offense was much worse than the defense. The defense had good games vs UTEP, UTSA, Tenn...and had some moments vs marshall, rice, and smu. The offense had zero moments and zero good games.

  38. Couldn't agree more with that statement. However, I went to the meet and greet with the new coaching staff and met Coach Littrell. After I quizzed him about the history of our nickname (he failed the test with "Joe Greene" as his answer) I educated him about the real origins of it. After satisfying myself that he knew more about that part of our history than most of the officials in the athletic department, I'm good regarding "access" for the duration of his tenure here.

  39. I couldn't agree more. Littrell can use a hologram on the sidelines or dress the entire staff like Daft Punk as long as he wins championships here.

  40. Who gives a s $@#&?! I remember in the late '90s when people were walking around campus with T-Shirts that read "You can't spell C... without UNT." At least we can be known for something other than sucking at sports. Personally, I find it all pretty humorous. I disagree with the original post that this somehow brings national disrespect. Losing 66-7 to an FCS team at home brings national disrespect.

  41. We no more need to change our name than USC needs to change theirs. Keeping the name tied to the region was smart. It is an awesome region, unlike for example Western Kentucky or Southern Mississippi. Just need to do everything possible to promote people thinking of the metropolitan area as 'The North Texas Region'. And unlike USC who has an entire metro further South in San Diego, there is no more Northerly region in Texas. I agree NT has made progress in some absolute ways since the 80s, but relatively speaking, other universities in the state have made so much more progress that in some ways we essentially regressed.

  42. UNT's a fine name. North Texas is home to the fourth biggest metropolitan area in the U.S. with over 7 million people. If it was a state it would be the 14th largest in the U.S. Our name establishes our status as the preeminent public university for this region. Even though football and basketball have been weak for too long, when you look at where the school is today compared to where it was in the 1980s, a UNT graduate has a lot to be proud of.

  44. Here's the mindset I don't understand sometimes with people: Do you think lining up at the line of scrimmage and blitzing would have been any different, given the talent on the roster...and, that the DC hadn't recruited any of the talent on the roster? Not defending Cosh, by any stretch. But, sometimes coaches are doing what they are doing because of the (lack of) talent on the roster/group they inherit.
