  2. I guess I don't quite understand this post. I would expect that Hank would be politicking and doing whatever needed to get the job. He loves this town and this community, is a great guy and wants a job.... I think we all go for jobs we want?

  3. BOOYAH!! Its well past the time that the "good ole boys club" be dismantled and dissolved. Now, I have nothing against Hank and would not have a problem with him being involved with the Athletic Department in some capacity but NOT as the Athletic Director. If Hank is appointed AD, it would prove to me once and for all that this University is not serious about Athletics at UNT and after 46 years of being a loyal fan I will willingly walk away. I will not renew my 5 season tickets for football, my 4 season tickets for men's basketball and my annual MGC membership will end immediately, not that it would matter to anyone anyway. Again, I appreciate Hanks dedication and loyalty to UNT Athletics but we desperately need someone with experience and someone from the outside.

  4. Unbelievable how our fanbase was gladly sold SMU and Army as being premier OOC opponents to bring to Apogee...when both were easily hosted by us at Fouts... SMH

  5. The flapping access panel on top of the I35 Apogee sign has been closed! I know I said "We" in the title... but I'd really mostly like to thank myself for this accomplishment. Job well done. I think I now understand the over-inflated sense of self-worth/importance 90 felt when the RV news came down... and I like it. Sorry I didn't have the chance to grab a picture as I drove by this morning... but I promise its not flapping anymore. You're Welcome

  8. I am not sure how many of these late signees will help our team in 2016 - or even make it to campus - but I appreciate that this coaching staff is out knocking on doors and turning over rocks to try to get some better players to work with. They are not sitting around eating BonBons or trying to figure out a way to play another 18 holes of golf today. That kind of effort will pay off in the long run.

  10. So trying to control a debate, also known as winning an argument, is worth me, a tax paying contributor to American society for 35 years, being kicked out of Houston's America? Good to know. You know what controls debates? Facts. One usually feels the other party is controlling the debate when one doesn't have the facts on their side. Oh, and that's an original quote.

  11. Legit question.... you think George is openly campaigning for what he thinks isn't the best for UNT? Look, I don't want them to hire Hank either.... I'm also open to believe George is a good high profile alum who cares overwhelmingly about NT and legitimately thinks Hank is the right choice. Sure, they're friends and that sways it... but I don't think George wants anything more than UNT to be successful.... even when i disagree with him, which I do here.

  12. Not much teams like Marshall, WKU, La Tech, of USM can do in Today's college landscape. They have no TV market to sell, so their value gets greatly diminished, even if they are way better programs than schools like us, UTEP, UTSA, the F_Us, or MUTS, all of whom provide huge TV markets, if they could somehow win and gain a foothold in those markets.

  15. Exactly! I had the same idea. Hell, put Mean Joe at one entrance and Abner Haynes at the other main entrance. This is a must do for the new AD.

  16. Hard to believe how petty those two groups are over the gun control tweak. Republican Cornyn's bill would have flagged people of terror lists. So did Feinstein's. Cornyn's had a waiting period for "due process?" Three days. Who the f*ck thinks due process is a three day thing? And, Cornyn has a law degree? Feinstein's bill would block anyone on a terror list from buying a firearm, period. So, f*cking stupid. Cornyn's bill: 53-47 vote...not the 60 needed. Feinstein's: 47-53...not the 60 needed. GOP's Grassley and Jackass Party's Murphy also had bills, but they also failed along similar vote line. Utterly stupid. For the sake of seven votes, the Senator's of both parties can't do the right thing. It is more important for the them to "be right" and "win" in the eyes of the most extreme wings of their constituencies than to actually do some good. God forbid that each side's talking heads can't get on CNBC, CNN, FOXNews, and MSNBC and claim "victory." That's what it's really about these days; and, that's all it's about. And, people wonder why I haven't bothered to vote in a decade. The 21st Century politicians in America are worthless f*cking PR machines for whomever bids the most for their interest. The whole lot of them, both sides of the aisle, have divided up the country for the sake of unions, insurers, Planned Parenthood, and the NRA. Not one of them is worth a squirt of goat piss - politician, union, insurer, Planned Parenthood, or the NRA. Not one. It doesn't matter. When the GOP totally implodes during and after the 2016 elections, Hillary and all future Democratic presidents will simply rewrite the laws via executive order, as Bush and Obama have spent the last decade+ doing. And, you know what? I don't f*cking blame them, Bush or Obama. We have three branches of government: executive, legislative, and judicial. If the legislative branch has decided to opt out for the sake of their own (union, insurer, Planned Parenthood, and NRA) PR battles, then they have no one to blame but themselves when the laws of this country are written by the president and tweaked by the Supreme Court. Congress is dead because the parties are too stupid to cooperate even on issues where the vast majority of the electorate agree. Pathetic.

  17. With the addition of all of the new players (coupled with the new staff) on the defensive side, is anyone else not growing increasingly encouraged at the possibilities of having a much improved defense? Just the measurables of several of these JUCO kids has me excited. It's difficult to keep track of the continuous additions that this staff keeps getting, but let's take a look at some of them: Josh Wheeler - OLB / 6'3" 255 Will Johnson - OLB / 6'3" 230 Eji Ejiya - LB / 6'2" 220 Mylam Peters - DE / 6'5" 245 Raveon Hoston - DE / 6'4" 246 D'vonta Derricott - LB / 6'1" 233 With these guys and the numerous additions in the back end of this defense, we shouldn't be surprised at the potential for a substantial (yes, much needed) improvement on defense.

  18. A new series from Amazon/NFL Films just dropped on Friday called "All or Nothing: A Season with the Arizona Cardinals". It's a better version of Hard Knocks that follows the Cardinals 2015 season. Eight ~1 hour long episodes. If you have Amazon Prime, you should check it out.

  21. I call BS. Baylor and Oregon have gone through more color changes than we have. And they are not the only ones. I wish we could find something that works and stick with it, but I don't buy the story that we are the only school who can't decide on a color.

  25. I think if a clearly better candidate were presented to George, he would dismiss that candidate and continue to push for Hank. I don't know if you were at the fan meeting, but that was abundantly clear when George got up to comment. He tried to use false emotion in an attempt to campaign for Hank. It was calculated, but to me came off as very contrived. Then George went and talked to the media both before and after the event, using his sizable media weight to further the campaign. George is a one candidate guy. It wouldn't matter if the college football version of John Daniels was out there, George wants a friend to get a job. Period. Look, this is what Geirge is used to at UNT. He is the ultimate insider from the RV regime. This is the culture that he knows so well and has used to his own advantage. He also faces the possibility of losing influence inside the program with an AD not named Hank Dickenson. I just hope this university does the right thing for athletics for the first time in a very long time.

  27. 29 tackles on a full season for an FCS? That's about 2.5 a game? Was he a starter? Look, I hope he pans out, but this most likely isn't any great recruiting coup. We were probably his only offer this year. Maybe a good depth and ST add, but I wonder how much PT he gets. Agree. Especially if a qualified, motivated AD is hired to give them help.

  31. About those reliefs from Fouts...I hadn't noticed these until the other day. They don't look like ones from Fouts, but pretty similar and all of female athletes. This picture was taken outside the Union across Highland Street from the BLB (where Stovall Hall used to be located). There are a couple of picnic tables next to the new Shield statue by now deceased UNT alumnus Jesus Moroles.

  35. Another senseless expenditure in the athletic arms fiasco. A fancy locker room never made a player better, but the glam obviously impresses recruits.

  38. It always irritated me when a guy I managed started complaining about his/her pay relative to a co-worker. I always asked them something along the lines of: "Was the $ figure you're paid disclosed to you when you signed on? Yes? And you found it fair and took the job? Yes? Then what is this discussion about? Can you enlighten me? Because I'm not sure what your co-worker's pay has to do with yours?"

  40. I bet an intern pointed out your mistake... you could've saved yourself a lot of words by simply saying "I don't understand how the world works these days so I'm going to keep those creating it at arm's length while I attempt squeeze every last drop of profitability from my company until it shrivels and dies without innovation and new ideas." I bet someone under 35 would've even been able to reply in the right thread. especially if they themselves started it. oh...and "p*ssy"? really? just say pussy, you pussy. stop being such a pussy.

  41. Look like about the only difference is that the players individual cubes have cabinet doors on them, whereas ours don't. So, have the AD give a junior associate the Company Visa, send HimHer down to Home Depot Lowe's and pick up enough board feet of lumber, hardware, and stain and be done with it. Here's another thing I've SaidComplained about for years about outwardly visible things like what does a thing look like to outsiders: "Sh*t...this is a so-called 'Arts' school. So, get some of the artsy kid from the north side of the campus to come down to the south side and do some artsy sh*t in the locker room, to the helmets, signs, and whatnot." Give me one hour and five artsy students we'll have to lockerroom looking ship shape by the end of July.

  42. Alabama's don't look radically different than ours, and they're winning championships pretty regularly. Are we putting kids on scholarship to sit around the lockerroom and wank, or to play football?

  44. In other words: "We didn't have a clue about the true situation we were bitching about, made a gross, unforced error in judgment, got our ass handed to us after looking like callous, entitled fools, and now realize we're not in school anymore."

  45. An old job of mine had an open feedback intranet forum for suggestions. The wisdom of the older crowd brought us gems like "why can't we vape on the shop floor?," "why's the CEO an asshole and paid so much?," and "why won't the company pay for all my training to do (unrelated job things?)," and "can I start bringing my dog to office areas?" (Complete with links to a random study on therapy pets in nursing homes.) The clapping seals in HR lapped this crap up and made senior leaders spend time answering these and other gems. The interns and younger folks definitely have their moments, but maybe once you wipe your knob dry from the joygasm over this one, you may want to cast an eye or two around the old peer group.

  47. Its early, and it typically takes East Texas kids a little longer to get the exposure / be seen than kids from other parts of the state. This kid is a really good player, and will likely "blow up" in terms of recruiting as time progresses.
