  1. I disagree that Tulane outhired us for head coach. Time will tell us if they did. We didn't "take a flyer", we took one of the top offensive coaches in all of college football. It's a great hire for us.

  2. I have a feeling that Coach Littrell and his staff have recruiting under control. I do expect big recruiting news will come our way!

  3. I have not seen this posted yet but I might have missed it. If you haven't already, take a look at the Baltimore Raven's "Wired" episode featuring our own Zach Orr. This is encouraging and I hope he continues to impress and becomes a solid starter linebacker for many years to come. We were lucky to have him in Denton. GMG. http://www.baltimoreravens.com/videos/videos/Wired-Ep-15-Zachary-Orr-Micd-vs-Chiefs/dd7a7f06-9e6a-4f05-b0cf-5a0b72575283

  4. Would have loved for him to come to UNT, but the immediate PT and 2 years to play at Grambling makes sense. I wish Devante well.

  5. I just have to give a shout out to a bunch of great Mean Green folks I do not know, but we're very kind and helpful to me after the game today. First, fun game...I think Rice's last lead was at the 5-4 point in the first few minutes. Katenda had a great game...several nice dunks...some excellent hustle...a decent...decent...free throw shooting game for the good guys...half-way decent crowd with a few students trickling back, and a win for the Mean Green! All nice in itself, but what went on after the game is my point here...the greatness of the Mean Green family. Well, my wife and I get to our car and I notice I do not have my cell phone. It was in my lap and I guess I dropped it or kicked it somewhere as we stood up to leave. So, I run back in to the Super Pit in the hope that I might find it. A group of fans notice me looking for something and ask if they could help. I explain and one lady asks if I have the "Find my Phone" app on my phone...well, yes I do. She says...here take my phone and let's find that thing! Long story short, but after about 10-12 minutes of looking...several random folks have now joined the search...the app's pinging and direction finding works and my phone is located. How it got where it did I will never know, but the point is...a bunch of Mean Green fans hung around to help a fellow Mean Greener find a lost phone. Obviously, I thanked these folks profusely and returned the phone used to help find mine to its owner. I realize this is no big deal...a lost phone...in the whole scheme of things, but I just wanted to give a shout out to these very kind Mean Green people who I did not know and who did not know me who took their time and hung around after the game to help me locate my phone. Yes, folks...Mean Green people are the greatest! Thank you kind people.

  6. @Harrysaw traffic numbers slowing down so had to grab a stick to poke @UNT90 in his cage... This is not our coach, and not even a conference mate or someone currently on our schedule. If anyone else posted it, you'd move it to a different forum, Harry.

  7. This game was on a nice big screen at a TX Roadhouse up here in MEM. I don't know what channel; it wasn't on any of the zillion sports channels I get at home. That big green eagle on the court looks great on TV. I sure have come to appreciate the wins over a recognizable school like Rice. Imagine how great it would be if they happened more often.

  8. Why do we assume that we backed away? Could be he chose not to come here because he wants to play immediately.

  9. It all boils down to recruiting. If Littrell and company can recruit the best players, then he will be the best hire. That simple.

  10. Tulane's starting quarterback has asked for and received his release. Tanner Lee is a RS sophomore.

  12. I doubt we offered him and believe it's better for him to get to play two years at Grambling instead of one at UNT. Recruit us a HS QB Seth!!!

  15. NT never able to completely put Rice away, but led comfortably about the whole game. Rare overall good shooting today, Katenda now has two excellent games in a row. Combs again with a double double. Johnson continues to score. This was a hard fought but sometimes sloppy basketball game. NT has beaten two bad conference teams, but there are not many good ones in this league this year. Benford's complaining about fragrant fouls got him one called. Not too excited yet, because NT strung some good games together last year only to fall apart. I enjoyed this game and I think many others would if they forget about their get rid of Benford agenda. This team plays hard although not smart often, but they are fun to watch. They also unlike some of Benford's teams look like they are having fun on the court.

  16. Dude he is only 5'10". Everyone knows you have to be 6'3" or from Iowa to be a D1 quarterback!

  17. If Fritz wins at Tulane (who has one winning season since 2002) he will show he has won at a place where circumstances make winning hard. Until then, he has made average to above-average programs better. If he pulls a Tommy Bowden at Tulane, you'll have every right to puff your chest out but I have my doubts. As far as where we are since the two staffs took over, we have acquired our best DT in over a decade, likely a graduate transfer quarterback, and allegedly turned down a SEC transfer quarterback. Tulane has lost their starting quarterback to transfer and a starting wide receiver to track & field. I like our chances.

  19. That class was the end of Rod Rust as the rules on JC transfers changed, and almost all those players were not eligible. I never could find out if the rules changed after they were signed which seemed totally unfair or if NT just didn't know the new rules. A few sit out a year and played, but most never saw the field and NT basically lost a whole recruiting class.

  20. I'm sure he does. But if he's scared by a QB prospect in the grade below him then he has no business playing P5 ball.

  21. Did you miss where I said " Time will tell us if they did"? You have no idea if Fritz will be a great hire for Tulane. Both coaches have impressive resume's in their own right but time will tell how well they do at the current schools.

  22. Directv carries them nation wide often on the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN). I have watched many UNT games on American Sports Network. Their production is not as slick as Fox, but they are getting better and better, and they are enthusiastic about the teams they show. They also talk very positively about Conference USA.

  30. I see many of my friends listed. WR David Yaege, the most feared WR in the Missouri Valley Conference. Great WR and Punter. Played in the USFL. David Kervin, one of the best RB's for Hayden Fry. Great on punt returns. Very quick, could start and stop on a dime! Bob Stout played center for the team through Hayden Fry's teams. Fleming became a very good LB. There are several of these players that played for Hayden Fry. Good memories!

  32. Willie Fritz just sounds like a coach in New Orleans. Maybe recruiting a guy based on the recruit's grandmother's jambalaya recipe. I'd like a home and home with Tulane. Except for travel, I'd rather play Tulane than Southern Meth. Coach Littrell has a pretty good chance of not being buried in his win-loss record this first season. If he could go 4-8 he could maybe get to .500 by season 3. GO MEAN GREEN

  35. Thanks Billy! I thought I may have scooped Vito! Ha! I was actually looking on 24/7Sports for a 24/7 report on the uncommitted top football players in the Dallas Ft Worth area. There were several big OL, DL, and WR's listed showing no commitments. See if you can find the report. I saw the report a couple of days ago.

  39. I am trying to hold back and not get overly optimistic, but this coach keeps hiring solid coaches and is recruiting some great kids. Then with the social media stuff...UNTouchable. Each day I say to myself wow! Littrell seems to be pushing all the right buttons. With the recruits he is targeting you have to think other good players that weren't paying attention to us before might now be giving us a look. Keep it up coach. Go Mean Green!

  40. Hey let's not shut ourselves short here 1. Young Head Coach 2. Graham Harrell as your Offensive Coordinator - Young as well 3. Playing Time right away 4. Nice Stadium and Facilities 5. And a Buc-ee's Gas Station on the way

  41. If I were a Bobcat fan I would really like this. He has a staff that works well together at the NCAA level, even if it was not FBS. I believe texas ties in recruiting are a bit overrated. JMU on the other hand is getting a really raw deal here. Losing your coach and pretty much ALL of the assistants this late in the game is a real killer.
