I know this is not a college team...but the Yankees use their interlocked NY logo to help brand their team. New York primarily uses 3 marks:

• NY logo
• bat & patriotic top hat
• Yankees spelled out

Zero brand confusion between the three logos or Is this York New or New York?

The New York interlocked NY is an iconic logo that is similar in name or letters to the North Texas letterman's NT. What better inspiration to help us add an additional logo or "expand our own brand" on sports related merchandise.
