How will Dodge’s 2010 team look?
As we inch closer to national signing day, I thought it would be entertaining to project what the starting lineups will be in the opener against Clemson. Here the breakdown by class (9 seniors, 10 juniors, 5 sophomores, 1 freshman)

There is a lot of excitement in the Mean Green Nation regarding Cole’s potential impact in 2010.

UNT Suffers Monroe Setback
North Texas hoped after winning against Western Kentucky last week that their momentum would change in the final four games. Louisiana Monroe brought Todd Dodge and the Mean Green Nation back to earth with a dominating 33-6 victory.
What happened? How can this program go from breaking all time scoring and statistical records from one week to the second lowest season totals in the next?
One clear reason is the opponent. Louisiana Monroe was clearly the better team – in ALL phases. Their linemen were bigger and stronger, their quarterback was outstanding and made consistently good decisions and their coaching staff called a better gameplan.
Monroe had a two fold gameplan. They were not going to let Lance Dunbar beat them and shadowed him with a safety or linebacker all game long. On offense, like every single one of our opponents they put their line against our front seven and had terrific success. Monroe also took advantage of the fact our corners refuse to look for the ball and hit for some gigantic long passes as our non existant pass rush allotted their quarterback hours in the pocket.
But this is old news really at this point in the season. While Dodge has proven he can land more talented players as individuals he has yet to prove to us that he can put together a complete team of talented players who possess chemistry.
There is a certain coaching stubborness related to this lack of talent that is – in year three of this regime – concerning. How can defensive coordinator Gary DeLoach continue to refuse to mix in an occasional blitz when it is apparent to a novice that UNT is getting absolutely no pass rush from its front four? Or when Todd Dodge continues to hand the ball off to Dunbar when it was very clear that ULM would have none of it? Where are the adjustments for this coaching staff who in year three is frantically struggling for wins?
These are valid questions that North Texas fans are scratching their heads over after another home loss against a Sun Belt opponent. They shadow what should be a bright future for this program who will have a groundbreaking for a new stadium in just a couple weeks.
